For myself I’m really not a fan. I find the cut and structure uncomfortable and have a real dislike of huge logos. I also have a bit of an old fashioned feeling that it’s something that has a valued meaning and should have been earned. If you were at one of the American universities and this is your varsity jacket, then wear it very casually or post sport.

The ladies from Opening Ceremony do look very cute in them though.

Having worn them in high school and in university in the 1980s..a definite no! :) (Although they look cute.)

I agree with you E. Sometimes it does feel like if things clash it must be fashion. “I can’t blend garments, so it must be cute”; but it’s a kind of artificial, determined cute.

By the way, it’s cold here in Yorkshire and I was out filming in the rain all day yesterday. I’m sat beside my computer in old jeans, a much loved (okay, worn out) Norwegian sweater, climbing socks and sheepskin moccasins. You’re not alone in your Uggs.

I wear my Moms old (1984?) cheerleading varsity jacket in the fall and winter. It has her name and her letter stitched to it. I eventually want to add my varsity letter below hers and maybe another generation will be able to add theirs as well someday.

I hate them. I hated them in the eighties too. I don’t think they have a nice cut on men or women. I agree with the previous poster who said everything seems overly styled these days. It’s so true. Ask yourself before you jump on this trend if this jacket really highlights your best assets, would you really have picked it out a few years ago. Would you want to run into your ex boyfriend and his hot new girlfriend wearing it. You’d probably realize pretty quickly how dumpy varsity jackets can be.

I LOVE varsity jackets! I regret not getting a real one back in high school…but because this trend is so huge now I can wear my fakie varsity jacket and pretend I am on my high school bleachers once again, cheering for the home team to score another point! :)
