The Pajamas

I’d like to be one of those girls who rolls out of bed with her hair still in a perfect top knot, wearing a cute set of pajamas and smiles at the birds chirping outside of her window…
You know, the kind of girl that drinks perfect cups of coffee, reads poetry all day with her über-handsome boyfriend, and can totally get away with wearing those same cute pajamas outside of the house. Basically, I want my life to resemble a romantic comedy.
I might not have that perfect top knot (okay, or that boyfriend…or those birds) but I’ve found a way to get a step closer to rom-com life: the pajamas. I’m digging this shirt (and the matching shorts, of course) from Sleepy Jones. I’d even consider wearing them out and about (which would also be so very Vuitton of me).
So, tell me about your pajamas…

Alex, this is my favorite rom-com ! I think I was the only one : I’m from France where the film has been broadcasted like 1 time in 10 years… So it’s pretty hard to keep this pajamas power Meg Ryan had, I try to hold on ! xo
During the holiday season, I got my boyfriend and I monogrammed pajama sets… Yeah I know we are like the new Kurt and Courtney.

Well, if it stil counts for pjs… i wear men’s lousy boxers and a tshirt to sleep! I guess that I can’t step outside of the house like that, but it feels really light and comfy for me. Oh, and I love the ones with the silly cartoon patterns. The sillier the better, I say. And I always match the t-shirt! :p

J’ai “liké” ce post rien que pour la phrase ” ce qui serait terriblement Vuitton de ma part”(!!!) Il faut absolument que je le re-case quelque part.
My pajamas consist of old tank tops and tshirts, some shorts I used to wear as a lifeguard back when I was in high school, and some flannel pants from way back in the day. I know…terrible! I guess it’s about time to invest in some REAL pajamas…and work on that top knot. ;-)
Mon pyjama préféré, c’est une grande chemise nafnaf blanches à petits carreaux brun clair qu’une amie m’a donné lors de son dernier vide-armoire, et que j’envisage de porter bientôt sur un jean slim délavé et avec une belle ceinture!! je recycle de plus en plus les fringues et mon style s’affine en même temps!!
PS : je RECHERCHE le pyjama parfait!! en soie, vert émeraude, short loose que l’on peut porter l’été la journée avec mes petites sandales préférées!!! si tu sais où je peux trouver ça :-)
Every morning I walk my dog, wearing only my pajamas, boots and coat. That time I look comleptely miserable, with no make up on, tousled hair ans swollen eyes. I guess, people mast think I’m crazy. And you know what? I even like it, at least my small doggy enjoy it a lot. It’s all becouse I’m so lazy, I love sleep (it’s a true, undying love) but I also care about my flat. So when my dog starts to squeak, jumping on my bed (and on me generally) and licking me (I know it’s gross; but for people who owns dog, small kiss from their animal is just cute, anyway), I’m just getting out of bed. I’m so scared I’d find a small “surprise” on the floor. It’s my motivation and the best alarm clock ever.
“Pillow Talk” is one of the most classic rom-com’s. And, Doris Day’s wardrobe is TDF. Love Meg Ryan’s rom-com’s too. Very fun post!
I’m a t-shirt and undies kind of gal. To me, it’s the most comfortable!

Guess I have the lucky life, because I’m that girl! Mine does read like a rom-com (mine is more Notting Hill + When Harry Met Sally).
I have the pajamas – but wait for it – they were my Dad’s. They are crisp and comfortable (especially the shorts sets right out of the wash) and are perfect for Sunday mornings when you’re hanging around with your handsome husband, drinking a pot of tea and eating crumpets with lemon curd.
The topknot, however…is very hit or miss for me!
p.s….my favourite rom-com is a tie between Notting Hill and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Je trouve vraiment déstabilisant le fait que le texte soit signé à la fin (même si c’est un principe de base). Je ne sais pas si je suis claire… Etant sur le blog de Garance Doré, nous lisons le billet en pensant que c’est elle, nous nous imaginons la scène et bim, à la fin, non, non, rembobinage, il faut la refaire avec Alex ou Emily!

I wear these in hydrangea each night (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/sleepwear/sleepsets/PRDOVR~31314/31314.jsp), and I am ALWAYS so ecstatic when my top knot is smokin’ upon waking; which is like….10% of the time? My bangs ruin beautiful bedhead potential most always.
Okay… finding the right pajamas is just my pet peeve… I don’t wear pastels in the daytime, why are all robes/pjs/gowns pastel pink, blue or white or duckies or raccoons or whatever? I’m peeved already. I know they look adorable on many young women… but not me.
Why not… comfort above all, lovely fabrics, soft and light or soft and warm, not too fussy, but clothes that make me feel just loooovveeellllyyyyyy ?? Do they exist?
I love my Frette cotton pjs they get better with age.

Sympa ce petit post! Pour ma part, je ne suis pas trop une pyjama girl, en fait je n’aime pas dormir avec un pantalon, donc soit juste le haut d’un pyjama, long tshirts ou des nuisettes. Je viens d’ailleurs d’acheter deux belles nuisettes toutes douces.
I love men’s style pajamas for real life! Love! This one is awesome. J.crew makes good ones. For the past few years I’ve gotten one a year. There’s something about piping that I love, and pajamas are a great vehicle for piping… Plus, the nonchalant vibe is attractive, in my opinion.

For bed, I love my twelve year old men’s Bonds merle grey v-neck undershirts, two sizes up… they are virtually indestructible – soft as can be after all these years! And paired with men’s black, grey and cream Madras check boxers, I am the happiest camper in town; or perhaps that should be “bed”.
A few years ago, I sewed myself four cotton and silk pyjama sets in the most fluid, airy fabric discovered at the bottom of my mother’s old trunk. All the pyjama tops are a big, simple, pull-over-the-head box shape (the only shape I can sew – along with oversized racer back tops). The pants – loose, drawstring three-quarter, shorts and longer, ankle-skimming pants.
Sometimes, when I feel like bringing the luxury of home with me to work, I wear the top with grey skinny jeans and sneakers of flat boots or sandals… sometimes I wear the baggy pants with a singlet top and sandals… and a few times, I have worn the entire matching set with a leather jacket the long pants tucked into my combat boots.
I have no idea what other people think when I wear my pyjama set items out, but there is something indulgent about enjoying the comfort of your pyjamas at work. And, seeing the pyjama trend out on the streets (Louis Vuitton, I sometimes wonder what my husband thinks when I wear my work clothes to bed.
Haha, I feel you. I’ve spent years trying to emulate my life to a rom-com or a Calvin Klein perfume ad (Eternity Moment please) for years. If only life came with soft, attractive lighting and soundtracks

j’en ai acheté une en octobre 2012 chez Zara et j’ai mis…. 6 mois avant d’oser la mettre, pas plus tard que lundi dernier. En rendez-vous avec plusieurs personnes, gentiment j’ai eu droit: “ah c’est sympa, t’es venue en pyjama ce matin?”…
Mais en fait, comme j’assumais l’affaire, tout le monde a rigolé et deux filles m’ont demandé ou je l’avais acheté, ce qui est bon signe, non?
Une amie me dit depuis toujours, ce n’est pas ce qu’on porte qui compte, ce qui compte, c’est le porter avec aplomb :)

J’ai déniché mon pyj de cet hiver chez H&M (tout simplement), il est en imitation soie, beige, avec un imprimé minuscule de petites étoiles noires, à la façon de Claudie Pierlot. Il est chouette mais la soie, ça glisse … Je me retrouve avec le pyjama en bas des jambes chaque matin :)

I agree, haven’t worn pajames since I was much younger. I prefer to sleep naked, but if the girls don’t get a little support, I am uncomfortable, so it’s usually just panties and a little cami. Often beat out by wearing my boyfriend’s tshirt, which I make him leave for me, because it smells amazing!! (And is the next best thing to having him in my bed each night.)
Fave romantic comedy? Stranger Than Fiction. A little off the radar, but fantastic none the less. Closely followed by Bridget Jones Diary, although the book is waaaayyy better. :)

Je n’aime pas les pyjamas (surtout pas ceux avec les boutons qu’un jour ou l’autre il faut recoudre) ni les chemises de nuit. Alors c’est toujours un vieux t-shirt et un vieux leggings que je finis par enfiler s’il fait vraiment froid.
Ma comédie préférée… Baby boom… Pas toute jeune, mais la tête de Diane Keaton quand elle se reveille chez le docteur-vétérinaire me fait chaque fois hurler de rire.

Moi aussi je m’imagine encore en héroïne d’une comédie hollywoodienne, à boire mon café dans la tasse parfaite avec un magazine (comme si on avait le temps…!), porter des escarpins sans hurler de douleur au bout de 10m…Ce genre de choses !
I never wear pajamas, I don’t like them. I find them quite uncomfortable, must of all because of the buttons. I prefer to wear a t-shirt and a pair of long pants or a nightgown (in winter) or just a vest and panties (in summer). I don’t even particularly like men with pajamas, I prefer pajamas pants and a t-shirt.
My favorite romantic comedy? I like “Love Actually” so much! I also love “Some like it hot”, can we consider it a rom-com?

I always sleep naked, so whenever I go on vacation or sleepover or for some other reason have to share a room with someone else, I always have to rummage through my wardrobe to find something that looks vaguely pajama-like. I love the ones you picked out! So cute!

Mes pyjamas, je les achète aux États Unis, Victoria’s secret (ou autre), plus de choix et plus sympas, plus glamour aussi. Je ne dors jamais sans pyjama…. Mais pas avec n’importe quoi, il faut qu’ils soient beaux !
Vous avez dit “comédie romantique” ? Encore les Américains pour en produire des vraies ! Une de mes préférées : “One fine day” avec Georges Clooney et Michelle Pfeiffer, toujours belle et avec beaucoup de ressources pour faire face à toutes les situations.
Ahah! La seule chose que j’aurai aimé, c’est de me réveiller avec la face parfaite et non enflée… comme à tous les matins. Lorsque UPS, Poste Canada ou Fedex frappent à ma porte le matin (lorsque j’attends certaines livraisons évidamment)… j’ai honte! Je ressemble à rien. Lorsque je vais avoir mon mari j’espère me réveiller avec un visage décent (de toute façon il n’aura pas le choix de m’accepter ainsi).

I cannot pick one favourite romantic comedy, but I know the feeling of wanting to live in one. During summer I always keep a long silk underdress near my bed, and I feel very romantic doing my morning routine in this.
J’en cherche un en soie ivoire, tellement bien pour flâner le dimanche… Et puis avec des escarpins, très chic!

Mon pyjama c’est un vieux pull cachemire gris perle plein de trous de mites… je ne sais pas comment mon homme accepte mais j’ai tellement peur d’avoir froid la nuit. A des années lumières de la comédie hollywoodienne quoi ;-( et pourtant j’adorerais aussi, et aussi et surtout qu’il ne se froisse pas pendant la nuit (est-ce seulement possible) ?
