I love giving gifts! And even more so if they feel personal (looking at you, oh-so-generic gift card).
When Paige Gamble (who is doing some pretty cool things with printed fabrications on her bags btw) said I could come make a customized leather pouch, I saw it as an opportunity to create the perfect birthday gift. Always thinking of others over here ;) …
My friend had sent me several incredible underwater images from her summer travels, so I picked one colorful photo and, me wanting to be included, chose another abstract black and white image of us. I am fully aware that putting photos of family on articles of clothing is… Sort of weird. But since this is a pouch, it felt like it was the perfect little memento for my friend to carry with her. Albeit a bit early, hope this birthday present is one that won’t be forgotten!
Can we agree customized gifts are where it’s at? Or do people really just prefer practical items… hello juicer!?

Last Christmas I gave one of my adult sons a photo I took of him with a friend when he was working in Morocco and had it posted on an aluminum backing (Mpix). It wasn’t expensive, but it meant a lot to him as I knew it would. It’ll be treasured long after any sweater, book, or piece of technology that I pick out for him. So, yes, I love this idea and your friend will love it too.
