Getting Dressed
11 years ago by
Almost as much as I love a face chart…
I love a dressing card. How many buttons should I leave undone? And how should I tuck the shirt in? Put my hands where? I spotted this one backstage at the Dries Van Noten show.
If anyone wants to volunteer to come over and do this to every outfit in my closet let me know!! (I realize that wanting someone to put together face charts AND dressing cards for me makes me seem super lazy… I’m not! I just like instructions!)
Who wants a translation? ;)
I wish I had the drive to do this in my own closet! I think about it sometimes… Maybe I will do it after all! haha!

Xoxo! Cory
Here you go:
– top 3 and bottom 2 buttons undone
– top: open at the back
2 loops closed/buttoned
– coat: leave open
– hair in the ‘wrong’ (can’t read it, I think it says ‘wrong’ which means chignon)
– pants
– snake strap sandals
– hands in pockets
glasses/ hair in coat (probably means ‘hair tucked in coat’ or something like that)
I think it sais ”Haar in de kraag” which means ”Hair tucked into collar”. Just like it sais on the bottom of the chart.
I love these too! I think I’m gonna make some myself. Too silly?

Dress cards are great for shows, but in real life you want to do something different every day Alex, so you would need soooo much dress cards, it’s just impossible. Lets stay with the face charts, shall we?
And I understand what’s on the card, hehe, this is the moment I’m very happy to have learned Dutch as a kid!!

Wow, I like how this is in Dutch! I wonder if everyone at Dries van Noten can just read Dutch.
Love these behind the scenes photo!
Your Friend, Jess
ça pourrait être très marrant d’avoir ce genre de truc chez sois

oh yes, translation please!!! this is fascinting… don’t know how i missed the face chart first time around, but i just clicked on it now… love these backstage peeks, thanks for sharing!!

I too love the little bits and pieces backstage like this that provide you with a greater insight into the designer’s vision.
