Blogothèque

I can watch music videos for hours.
It’s captivating to watch how a song is translated into the visual. Inciting even more excitement is my recent discovery of Blogothèque, which I was introduced to a few weeks ago. Since then, all of my spare time has evaporated; I’ve been spending a lot of my time skimming through their selection of take away concerts…
Blogothèque films musicians performing one of their songs. Sometimes it’s a rough edit in an intimate setting (such as Yeasayer in their friend’s apartment), while others show a band in an incredible location in a complete reimagining of their video clip.
My favorite is this one below of Phoenix performing in the empty grounds of Versailles, which director Colin Solal Cardo had shot by a drone! Cool, no? It give you a completely different view of the palace…
Another good site to check for emerging US artists is earphoria.fm. Sometimes the videos are just interviews, other times good acoustic performances. My friends started this site years ago and it’s evolved, they also now run two “music” hostels, which are basically houses that have performance spaces but also will put up travelling musicians for very cheap. The hostels are in Chicago and Austin and because of the musicians constantly floating through the houses, they are a hot bed of creativity and just cool places to get inspired.
The most surprising thing for me to see the empty grounds of Versailles – when I was there, there were so many people! But I still remember the impression I got.

This music video is stunning. I really like when musicians have a really beautiful, artist video. It really seals the deal for me. Drones are getting increasingly popular & I can absolutely see why.

Bisous.
