Style Story / TyLynn Nguyen
6 years ago by
We are going to be featuring a few of our favorite LA ladies this week on the site! First up, TyLynn! Oh man, where do I even begin with Tylynn? About 4 months ago, Vanessa sent me a personal feature on her from a publication and from then on we were hooked. I mean, her beauty alone will make you lose your breath for a quick second, but this woman has the heart and depth to back it up and then some. I mean she welcomed us into her home with a baby calmly at her hip, looking like an angel. She is real and wholesome and smart and I don’t know if you can tell, but I love her even more than I did before. Which is a LOT. Anyway, before I continue to gush, meet Tylynn!
Describe your style in 3 words.
Timeless, chic, and feminine.
What’s most important when it comes to style: comfort, beauty, or innovation?
Beauty! I am drawn to beautiful pieces that feel timeless in nature.
Most valued thing in your closet?
My white Chanel loafers. They will be passed on to my daughter.
Do you have a fashion muse?
No, I do not. I like to believe my eye for myself is a natural gift from above. I do think I have influences like Princess Grace of Monaco, Jane Birkin, and Diana Ross but I go with what feels best for me.
Are there things you don’t wear?
No. I just keep my looks very regal and elegant. I think anything can go in my wardrobe. It will just have my personal twist of minimalism.
Let me just say, you are the most elegant woman I have ever seen with a baby at your hip. When you opened the door to welcome us into your home it was clear that motherhood is such a natural part of who you are. How has becoming a mother, to not only one but three little ones, changed the way you approach getting dressed everyday? Are there any pieces you have had to give up? If so, what and why?
Thank you so much! I really enjoy being a mother. That means a lot to me.
Motherhood has definitely changed the way I approach getting dressed everyday. My wardrobe with kids is a uniform, high waisted denim, an easy top, and sweater or jean jacket. I haven’t given up any pieces though. I just know what works with my body and WHEN to wear certain clothes. For example I still wear short dresses just not with my kids. Short dresses are saved for date nights or special events. I haven’t stopped being who I am or wearing the things I love just because of my babies.
Your style is incredibly minimal, yet still quite fun – a rare characteristic of minimalist dressing. What is the secret to keeping simplistic style interesting?
Muted colors, interesting shapes and beautifully executed simple patterns.
Your eponymous line of lingerie and sleepwear is stunning. It is clear that you pay close attention to detail in regards to the female silhouette. How did you come to designing intimates? How do you want women to feel when they wear your pieces and what do you think is the most important quality of lingerie?
I started designing intimates in college. I went to school for fashion design. I love the idea that beauty begins on the inside as well as a look begins with beautiful foundation garments. I want women to feel confident, sexy, and sure of themselves when they wear my lingerie. I believe lingerie should be worn for the woman first and then for the special person in your world. The most important quality of lingerie is comfort.

WHAT A GORGEOUS WOMAN? I am so inspired by her simplicity and beauty. As a mother who has a natural affinity to minimalist style this is refreshing to see. She plays with color and shape but doesn’t complicate her lifestyle.
