Tea At The Plaza
8 years ago by
Aside from going to watch Woody Allen play jazz at The Carlyle, one of the quintessential, classic ways to celebrate in New York is to have tea at The Plaza. When my mom last came to visit, I took her there — it’s completely over the top in a totally beautiful way, the perfect spot to eat extra delicate, tiny pastries and finger sandwiches and, of course, people watch.
We decided to go back with Andi and Rados, who you might remember! They had ultimate girl time deciding between the small cakes and escaping the cold with a glass of wine, a little slice of decadence that’s well deserved after a long stroll through Central Park!
Have you ever been?
What are the ways you love to celebrate?

Cet endroit à l’air magnifique !

Qui est cette femme sublime aux cheveux courts ? Un post sur elle bientot ?
Elle s’appelle Rados et elle est magnifique! — http://www.garancedore.fr/2015/03/03/style-story-rados/
Paris’ equivalent would be tea time at the Peninsula. They have vegan pastries!

I always celebrate everything with food. Doesn’t matter when or where, food is always involved! ;) In Madrid, it’s also very popular the Tea at the Ritz, though their brunch has taking over a little bit… globalization, I guess.

I had an afternoon tea over there and it’s true it looks very old time elegant place… (looking closer it needs serious renovation…) i was so disappointed from the quality…..although everything “looked good “..the service was bad bad…!!
i prefer much more Laduree in Soho (it’s not as nice as Paris but at least the cakes are tastier…)

Aaaah j’adorerais !! (Et j’adore Eloise at the Plazza !) Qui sont tes invitées ?
What’s with the placement of Atlas Shrugged in the photo? Is that some kind of bizarre coded message to Rand’s nutty followers?
Ruth, I’m with you. The photo of the Ayn Rand book creeped me out as well. I’ve read it (and promptly got into an argument with a Harvard Business School professor who was extolling Rand’s philosophy), but a bit of a non sequitor for this post — at least I hope it is.
That’s a clutch by Olympia Le Tan ;)
Then Olympia Le Tan is nutty, too.
This kind of tea set is just more than luxury. The atmosphere is classy. What a lifestyle.

Mesmerized by that ceiling! Gorgeous!
Wowww! This place is amazing! <3
Thanks for these beautiful pictures!
I like going to these kind of places (Ladurée, Angelina in Paris), especially when there are friends or family who are visiting France!

Petite and So What
Looks amazing!!!!
But nothing beats afternoon tea in London! ;-)
These pictures are very beautiful! I remember, a few years ago, my aunt took me to drink a hot chocolate to the Intercontinental in Paris, it was magic. It’s funny because the glass roof of the Intercontinental looks like Plaza :)

Merci Erik pour avoir repondu a ma question. Je viens de lire the style story de Rados : La photo avec le pantalon noir en cuir et la veste panthere est epoustouflante. Merci !
Beautiful setting! Lovely lovely lovely all around :) I’m jealous!
Mmmh des petits fours! l’endroit a l’air vraiment magnifique!
What a fabulous place! I’m going to have an afternoon tea in Dorchester in London, can’t wait :)

Your Mother has some serious cool going on!
Oh! Such fond memories… I was a little girl traveling to the Big Apple with my family all the way from Greece for Christmas and my mother would arrange to have coffee & desserts at The Plaza. It was the 90s. I haven’t been there since.
What a blessing you have your mom to enjoy tea with!!!!! My mom and I enjoyed high tea across the world for years and years…now she’s 90 and pretty much home bound. Enjoy these times to the full! Love, Ingrid from CA
ça à l’air vraiment mais aussi très appétissant !mmmhhhh
