Phillip Lim DTLA
7 years ago by
I really love the new Phillip Lim store in Los Angeles. It’s beautiful, spacious, open, and above all, inspiring. Lately I’ve noticed I’ll often go into stores and have to dig through tons of clothes that are coming at me from every direction. After a few minutes, I’ve lost all desire to buy something. But here, it’s different.
At Phillip Lim in LA, there’s plenty of space and the collaborations are interesting without going so far as being a concept store. The non-clothing items you find there are quite simply a collection of things that are part of Phillip’s life, like these gorgeous plates made by BDDW, a designer and store I love, which I’ve already told you about.
The decor of the store was done in collaboration with MR architecture + Decor, and Kate McCollough, whose career I’ve been following closely. Phillip wanted to create the warmth of an adobe structure, and I think he’s pulled that off really well.
So there you go, another occasion to visit DTLA (Downtown LA ;)) – See you there?

As we consumers move away from brick and mortar stores , a store needs to create an experience to make us want to return ! Good job , to Phillip it appears they are successful!
