After Garance posted these images from the J.Crew presentation, a lot of you were asking about the lipstick…
I’m always on the search for a perfect red lip (I’m a little bit of a red lipstick hoarder) and this look has become my newest obsession. In order to get the the bottom of this perfectly glossy, rich red lip, I asked Allison (a fabulous stylist at J.Crew) to break down the steps for us. Here it goes!
1. Fill in lip completely with Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in #50 Red.
2. Apply Hourglass Opaque Rouge in Icon.
3. Top off with MAC Lip Glass. (Note from Allison: Just watch out because this stuff will literally start dripping off your chin!)
Three easy steps, one perfect lip!
Gorgeous lips indeed! And so nice to get the official breakdown. However I think I’d skip the lipglass, lips melting onto my chin doesn’t sound very appealing at all!

So pretty except……. now that your lips look so great you really shouldn’t speak or even think about eating (ah, the horror) AND try not to smile (shouldn’t be hard because you’re so hungry from skipping lunch) because there could be some red on your front teeth.

I love those lips! I’m also obsessed with finding the perfect red. But, it’s a task that I’ve not succeeded in and am this close in throwing out the window. I’ve recently gone an alternate route and am experimenting with deep Plums (which has been a huge trend during NYFW). I find it a lot easier to wear against my skin tone. Hey folks. Try DRAGON GIRL lip pencil from NARS … It has a bright red undertone to the orangey-red it looks like, so it is actually deceptive and you won’t appreciate it unless you see it on someone else.
Long live red lipstick, and red wine … :)
