Le Cronut
10 years ago by
Today we arrived at the Studio with a box of Cronuts greeting us at the door sent by someone who must certainly have some sort of hook up.
Because you know about cronuts right? The croissant-doughnut hybrid created by Dominique Ansel Bakery that has people lining up hours in advance every single morning to get their hands on them?
We weren’t sure if they lived up to that totally crazy hype.
We now have the answer: Yes. They are delicious.
So, not sure we’d line up at 6 in the morning because we’re not crazy. But we’ll definitely cherish our super well hooked friends :)
J’ai des doutes…….
it’s a fad. and i really don’t need any more sweets :P

Oh my…they sound delicious!! I’ve heard of them but have never had the pleasure so far!

Oh I love croughnuts (or cronut)! They’re fast becoming popular here in the Philippines. Even convenience stores have begun to offer them. The best ones I’ve tried are the ones from Wild Flour and Cafe France.
Never tried one before but keep on hearing people talk about it, looks delish!
Hey girls!
It looks really yummy.

Shut up,
I saw this episode from 2 broke girls about the cronut and I thought they invented it for the series!!
I would have never imagined that pastry to be real.
Glad you liked it and are so well connected to even have them brought to your office ! :-)
XXX Moi
yuuuuum. jealous of you lucky ducks :P

He hehehe
My first paid job as a photographer was in New Zealand, to photograph some of these for a bakery in Wellington! I ate so many of them, they are so good.

Does the taste outweigh the guilt about the calories?
They look so yummy! :) I love donuts and croissants, so cronut must be the best option! :)

Garance, I discovered Dominique Ansel Bakery at its very beginning, when it was about to open and this got mentioned in the New York Times:
http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/27/dominique-ansel-not-your-everyday-bakery/
Although a Spaniard (and living in Spain), I subscribed to their newletter straight up with the hope of actually going there during my next visit to New York, which took place in May 2012. So I went there with a friend, we bought some delicacies and sat on the bench before the shop. A guy passed by (and quite cute he was too :P) and said. “Are you friends?” “Yeah” “Do you want me to take a picture of you” (sooo sweet). So we said “sure”, and so he took a picture of us and, before he left, he added: “In time you are going to treasure this moment”.
Awwwww such a nice memory…
(when I go to New York in a couple of weeks time I’ll be staying in Soho, very close so… I can pay another visit!… not at six in the morning though :S)
I had one recently but it wasn’t the original version – it was a knock off in St Louis. I totally wasn’t impressed. I’d take a regular donut or a croissant over it any day. Sounds like the ones in NY are better! xx
Esto es de lo que me hablabas…
