In a world of so many brands—especially beauty brands—I always get so excited when I’m introduced to something new that truly makes me dream. It feels rare, and special, and it’s made that much better when the founder of that brand happens to be kind and warm and incredibly generous.
A few months ago Garance introduced me to Veronique Gabai. Veronique is a true vet of the beauty and fashion world (she is the former CEO of Vera Wang, among others), but she grew up in the Côte d’Azur—in Antibes—and this is the spirit she’s brought to her new namesake brand. Her luxurious line of fragrances, inspired by her beautiful home and childhood memories instantly transports you to the blue waters and the vibrant sun of the South of France. The collection includes nine fragrances and two booster scents (meant for layering with the core fragrances), as well as body, makeup and *surprise* jewelry. Yes, Veronique has designed some beautiful 18k gold and silver-plated pendants that house a little bottle of perfume so you’re never far from your fragrance. Completely brilliant for those of us that are always on the go and prefer to carry our tiny bags.
And oh, what can I say about Veronique?! In a month where we’re talking about career, highlighting the work of incredible women like Veronique feels essential. She’s channeled her years of expertise into a project that’s made from love, and it’s something you can feel in all of the elements of the brand. A spritz of one of her scents and I can already feel the sun on my face.
