The Switch

The Switch

Along with switching over to waterproof mascara, summer also means a new foundation…

I’m making a big effort to swap my heavier winter products for some lighter options. My skin does a total flip come summer, it goes from dry-combination to oily. Just like that. So I started with switching my foundation, which was no easy task. I love my NARS Sheer Glow, but it doesn’t vibe with my skin come summer. I wanted something that was light, with good coverage and that wouldn’t leave my face feeling (or looking) greasy.

After a few weeks of testing everything from tinted moisturizers to powders I’ve found what works the best for me: Chantecaille Future Skin. It’s gel based, so it doesn’t feel like it’s sitting on top of my skin (even when I put it on over my sunscreen) and it’s buildable, so I get the coverage I want. Bring it on summer.

  • i rarely use make up during the summer :)

  • I love this foundation. I actually didn’t know much about it until you did your foundation test a few months tback. It has been great and wih my Gluten sensitivity it is Gluten Free. Always a plus.

I’m a big fan of Peter Thomas Roth CC cream in summer. SPF, staying power, good skin ingredients — it’s lightweight and a no brainer. I like to keep my makeup as light as possible in the summer. Just grabbed the Anastasia waterproofing for mascara – love it with Tarte’s Lights, Cameras, Flashes. Not goopy (sorry, Gwyneth) at all.

Did you try out Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua? It’s my favorite all-rounder.

  • Mine too. I like that it’s not oil based and gives really nice sheer touch. I dont like/need too much coverage, so this does the job just fine.

I just tested the new foundation from Bare Minerals and it is just amazing! Super light and you feel as you don’t have anything in your skin.

  • Looks good and I need to try. I use make up only a little during the summer but I like Dermacol. Hm.

  • I love this foundation!

  • I like the foundation of this brand.

  • I also never know when I’ll end up in the sea but I really don’t love wearing my waterproof mascara because it’s so hard to remove. Can anyone recommend a great waterproof mascara remover?

  • I would like to try Chantecaille products but they’re not sold in my country, or at least they’re very difficult to find. This foundation seems a very good product.

  • Same here. I’ve never seen Chantecaille been sold here in Germany. May be I’ll have a chance online. Gel based sounds really good and I love jar packaging. I think it looks nice and you can reuse those nice little glass jars.
Besides that is a nice photograph of the product.

;) Interdit

J’utilise juste la BB Cream au Ginseng Erborian. Trés bien!

  • Ce produit a l’air vraiment cool

  • Hi Alex…i use Tom Ford….i love the texture and great color match for me…..great bottle the right amount pumps out….no waste..it has a faint aroma of lavender …..my mascara is always YSL….I just started using NudeStix….sold at SK it’s fun and give u a quick smokey eye….

Alex, thank you so much for the recommendation! With my oily skin that gets even more so during the summer, I’d given up on wearing foundation this time of year and just suffered with my uneven, slightly blotchy summer complexion. But after reading this post, I figured I’d give the Chantecaille a try (and Nordstrom has free returns on cosmetics, so why not?)…and I LOVE it. It melts into my skin, isn’t heavy at all and provides just enough coverage. And the best part – it still looks fresh at the end of the workday. So, thanks! You should totally get some kind of kick-back from Chantecaille for upping their sales. ;-)
