The Glow

The Glow

I’m mastering bronzer. Kind of…

I’ve got pretty fair skin. One time I went on a date with this guy (hopefully you’re not reading this, guy!) and he told me I looked just like Snow White. It was a little weird, but the point is: fair skin. So just about any time I reach for a bronzer, it looks really unnatural. I’ve been on a mission to make it work for me because I like to have that sun kissed look in the summer (especially since I’m slathering on SPF 60 and look like I’ve never seen natural light).

But listen up fair skin girls (and other girls too)! I found something that works. Kjaer Weis cream blush in Desired Glow (hello, great name). It’s super blendable (one thing that I’ve had trouble with in the past, is not being able to blend a cream blush/bronzer– they usually leave my cheeks looking rather blotchy) and buildable. So if you just want a super subtle hint, apply a little bit. Want more of a Kardashian glow (yes, I said it)? It’s easy to build up. I like it so much that it’s completely taken the place of my normal blush (Dior Glow, which I also really love for totally rosy cheeks, but right now, I want to be a bronze goddess).

Give it a try, let me know what you think. And tell me what you use!

  • You should try Mac Alluring Aquatic extra dimension bronzer
I have also fair skin (but not snow white:) and up to now I’ve never used and even tried a bronzer but I really like how it’s sheer and has a nice glow and very buildable

  • Thanks for the recommendation Selin! Which color do you use?

    Actually it’s just one shade
You should go with the “extra dimension” bronzer from the collection

  • I really like it! Let me know if you try it!

the Buriti Bronzer from RMS Beauty….I like it even better than the Kjaer Weis. All of Rose-Marie’s products are outstanding…but that bronzer is extraordinary.

  • Hey alex,
i’m also super fair and mostly just use Mac “peaches” as blush/color. i never use bronzer since i don’t like the unnatural effect it has. might use this product though.
on another note: which makeup/powder/… do you use? i use minderal make up, but it isn’t perfect… i like it natural, bit i always have the feeling it look like i wear a mask somehow… can you help me? make suggestions? i’d be delighted! ;)

  • Hi Fanny! I used to use Bare Minerals and really liked it– is that what you are using? Right now I use NARS Sheer Glow foundation (in Mont Blanc) and their Creamy Concealer. I really like the coverage and it doesn’t feel heavy. Kjaer Weis also makes a great foundation, but it feels a bit heavier so I prefer it for winter. You could also try Sunday Riley’s Breathable Tinted Primer or the NARS Tinted Moisturizer (with SPF!). Hope this helps! xx Alex

I am from Denmark, and I love Kjaer Weis blush and foundation. They are very easy to use, organic and so pretty.

I’ve been using Giorgio Armani’s Maestro “Liquid Summer” bronzer and so far I really like it. It’s a liquid and a little bit goes a looong way! Has anyone else tried it?

  • Just a little tip from a makeup artist… make sure you choose a bronzer with the same undertones you have, that will make it the most natural looking. And NO sparkle….
This product is gorgeous, I will definitely try it…and it’s natural!

    Merci!

As a fair blonde, I’ve been using Guerlain terracotta sheer in color 01 Blondes for years. It’s the only thing that isn’t too dark or too sparkly. It has a mosaic of colors with a hint of shimmer in a few of the colors.

I’ve been using this since, perhaps 2008 or 2009 and am only on my second one. Granted I only wear it in the summer, but it seems that a little goes a long way.

  • Thought you might like to see the link to my post today re: Self Tanning and the term “TANorexic”

  • I would think being called snow white is quite a compliment:)

    I say embrace the fair.

Otherwise just a darker colored powder I thought always looks natural on super pale skin.

    Cheers:)

  • I agree, Dinka! My skin is the color of Elmer’s glue and after many unfortunate experiments, I think bronzer is not for me. It leaves me ruddy, not glow-y. The only thing I half like the look of is a foundation in a darker shade. Right now, I’m experimenting with Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua in Beige. Blendable is key. I just do the center of my face and blend out a bit. Sort of looks like I spent a day in the sun without sunscreen, but this stuff is SPF 15.

I love Nars’ Laos for a fresh glow that’s looks absolutely natural on my skin tone – whatever the season. It’s a peach tone that goes with everything from natural lips to burgundy to vermillion lips. MAC’s Posey is another creamy, warmer toned blush that I really love for its versatility. Both blushers are easy to apply with brushes or fingers – I prefer fingers- and incredibly long wearing. Once on, I don’t need to reapply even for going out in the evening. I wear them over the top of my moisturiser mixed with a little Nars Oragam highlighting cream- no powder- really easy, really fast.

  • Nars Orgasm blush and bronzer duo. Very subtle, buildable powder blush and bronzer. Use together or separately.
