Summer Plans

It’s the middle of summer and we’re sweating making summer plans! During July and August, NY is a little quieter with people taking their summer breaks…
Garance just got back from trips to Corsica, Croatia, Hawaii and Japan, and is off to Lake Powell in Arizona next week. Elle flew to LA for a few days. Brie is currently by the beach in Southampton. Emily is off to Cape Cod next week, and Neada is going on a road trip to Maine the week after.
So, yeah, we’re having a good summer!
But, really, we want to hear where your summer plans are taking you – and if any of you have inspiring ideas of places we need to add to our summer travel bucket list. So where are you going?

J’ai décidé cet été de passer des vacances chez moi ! :D Au pied des Alpes suisses, dans ma maison qui a une super vue sur la plaine et les montagnes, et c’est les autres qui viennent en vacances chez moi. Il y a des gens du monde entier qui viennent visiter ma région, alors j’en profite, et puis j’ai envie de reprendre le contrôle de TOUS les placards (j’ai pas encore commencé en fait alors que ça fait déjà plusieurs jours que je suis en vacances hinhinn).
Sinon le studio, j’avais envie de dire que vous ne précisez jamais une destination quand elle est aux Etats-Unis et toujours quand elle est ailleurs, ça fait très ethnocentrique. D’ailleurs pour moi, ethnocentrée en Europe, le Southampton que vous citez est forcément en Angleterre du sud, alors que c’est très certainement d’un autre dont vous parlez. Ca serait chouette pour les lecteurs du monde entier de sortir de cette vision US et adopter une vision plus globale :)
Ugh…on a ferry now returning to Athens from Naxos, where my husband’s father is from. Spending two weeks on a touristic island that still has a small town feel makes me dread heading back to reality in New York tomorrow. The highlights of Naxos include the food and tavernas (of course), some of the most beautiful beaches Greece has to offer, some really lovely boutiques with precious handmade items, and a community of kind people who treat everyone that comes to their island like family. You wouldn’t think there is any financial crisis in Greece after spending time in the islands…I sucked it up and carried my Panama hat with me on the plane and the ferry on the way here (which did not seem so horrible since I was so excited to post photos to Instagram wearing it ????), but I am much less enthusiastic about it seeing it on the seat next to me now that I need to drag it home with me without crumpling it…
Pour les vacances d’été ce sera la Gaspésie au Québec dans une semaine! Si vous avez chaud, je vous recommande cet endroit. Un record de température basse a été battu cette semaine. Il fait moins de 20 degrés et toute la région est entourée par la mer! Superbe et authentique!

Wow, you are all so lucky to be able to travel so much! Some of us can’t leave work so we are stuck at the computer reading about everyone else’s vacation ;-)
Oh mai god….Mexico-beaches/cities. I am from mexico and although I don´t quite agree with my country in so many ways, I can assure you thet the beaches, cities & the food is the best, also design all over. To try:
Cities
-Tulum
-Cozumel
-Huatulco
-Mérida (Hotel Rosas y Xocolate or any high end Hacienda -if you can book a room-)
-La Paz
-Mexico city
Restaurants
-Maximo Bistrot (the best in the world), Cheff Eduardo has managed to stay humble and friendly which translates into honest food.

Je vous lis depuis plus de deux ans et c’est le premier commentaire que je poste.
Pour nous ce sera Madrid pour qques jours ensuite Lisbonne pour 5 jours et le sud (algarve) pour 10 jours.
Retour par Bordeaux pour ensuite rentrer à Bruxelles.

Wow, it seems you’re having a truly fabulous summer! I’m going to Zakynthos island, Greece in mid-August. I’m curious myself about this destination, because I’ve picked it spontaneously during a dinner with friends, as we found flight in great price. The place wasn’t on my bucket list, but as I started reading about it, I got excited for our trip. It’s said to be one of the greenest Greek islands and has an amazing Shipwreck Bay – a place I’m sure you’ve come across on the internet.

I’m in Savannah to see the Vivienne Westwood exhibit at the SCAD museum. It’s a small exhibit but very inspiring. And, it was curated by Andre Leon Talley! Check it out if you can.
Une partie de l’été (en réalité l’hiver) à Madagascar à profiter des plages encore peu fréquentées et de la nourriture fraîche et savoureuse. Puis Montréal qui vibre au son de ces nombreux festivals tout au long de l’été. Merci pour vos posts toujours si agréables à lire et bravo pour les illustrations, tellement belles!
It’s winter here in New Zealand right now, but next week we are escaping to cold to Vietnam. I’ve always wanted to go, so getting excited :) Enjoy your summer trips!
Mon conjoint et moi sommes en vélo-surf-camping à Taiwan pour 1 mois! Et oui, on a nos surfs sur nos vélos ET notre équipement de camping! On adore! Autant vous dire que l’on est très populaire ici, il y a très peu d’occidentaux, en fait presque inexistant, et on est super chargé! En plus, on attend notre premier bébé! Cest un èté de rêve pour nous deux.
Just returned last night from a fantastic trip to Cabo San Lucas (lazy, luxurious, heavenly) and will leave for Istanbul in six weeks!
If Garance is going to Lake Powell, she should make a side trip to Antelope Canyon. It is truly otherworldly! A true bucket list place.

Pour moi ça sera un surf trip en Indonésie. Le circuit est le suivant : vol Casablanca – KL escale à KL pour une nuit, départ pour Jakarta et un dernier vol pour Bandar Lampung (Sumatra), 6 heures de taxi pour atteindre la plage de Krui. Ensuite rebelotte dans le sens inverse pour arriver à Jakarta, louer une voiture et rouler jusqu’à la côte de West Java. Ensuite peut être quelques jours à Bali pour gouter un peu de civilisation et retour à la maison.
Qui veut faire du surf ? :D
Je profite de mon dernier été aux Etats-Unis avant mon retour à Paris pour faire un road-trip de Boston à Nova Scotia en passant par le Maine évidemment! Bonnes vacances à toutes!
I am going to Portland and then California by Amtrak. First, stopping by in beautiful Portland for a couple of days and then I will take the Coast Starlight route with the train and stop in Monterrey, Santa Barbara, LA and San Diego. I am visiting friends in the last two cities. I wanted to take the equivalent of the Eurail Pass and see most of beautiful California. Yeyyyyyyyyyyyy!
J’ai passé une semaine dans les caraïbes et deux en suède et danemark, j’aime bien le contraste, car les 2 endroits sont assez différents de où je vie (Montreal).Belles destinations Garance!
