Seascapes

I think my two favorite things might be the ocean and art. I’m endlessly inspired by both, so it’s no wonder I’m in love with the breathtaking photo-realistic paintings of Ran Ortner. His work is so precise, it doesn’t seem real. Or maybe that’s the thing: it looks so impeccably real, you can hardly believe that it was hand painted on these oversized canvases that demand attention.
Last week, I went to the opening of his exhibition at Robert Miller Gallery, and it was so beautiful to be surrounded by these ostensibly similar but, in truth, such diverse and dynamic interpretations of the sea, movement, and the stillness of certain moments.
If you’re in New York, the exhibition is on until February 20! More details here.
LOVE his work. What do you think?
Juste incroyable, merci d’avoir partagé ça !
J’ai du aller sur son site, et zoomer pour y croire! Ses tableaux sont incroyables! Je crois que je m’y perdrais facilement aussi.
The rendering is so real it looks like it was photographed! Even up close! Amazing.
So glad to see this kind of posts pop up once in a while…these things make the blog the wonderful destination we all keep coming back to! Very interesting documentary!
Kisses!

You should check out Sangbin Im’s seascapes at Ryan Lee Gallery right now. Super cool. http://ryanleegallery.com/exhibitions/sangbin-im-collection/
Tres impressionnant. J’aimerais une grande toile en face de mon lit et m’endormir au son de l’ocean.
You should also take a look at Sugimoto’s photos (totally beautiful):

Another amazing artists painting the ocean is Canadian Jaye Ouellette
What an incredible talent. Every tiny detail is perfect and so real. I could lose hours just taking them in. His personal story is also worth a read.
Ran’s work is so incredibly beautiful! You should check out the Canadian equivalent, artist Jaye Ouellette http://www.jaye.ca
Her ocean paintings are really beautiful too!
