An ode to the most practical of details. A moment of love for pockets everywhere, please!
When we all went to the premiere of the Intern last week (yes, it was really fun)(yes, dad, Robert de Niro, your all-time favorite actor, was there), and Em was wearing this super swanky Phillip Lim dress that had the most surprising of pockets. Ok, so a bulging pocket full of phones, keys, et al. might not be so attractive on a beautifully hanging dress, but it did have us talking about what a luxury it is to be out for the night with a bank card in your pocket and your phone in your hand.
In this consumerism world, that’s pretty much the definition of liberty. Respite from all that stuff that lingers in the bottom of your handbag. Freedom to dance (wherever, whenever). A sneaky spot to store things in general… And the best way to add a little bit of attitude.
As we are now officially in jean weather, this past week I’ve noticed how a simple detail like pockets makes life easier after months of kaftans and lightweight shifts. A place for (just about) everything!

I adore pockets. I even have a gown that has pockets. But I use them to keep my hands warm and for the occasional kleenex. Never for anything bulky.
