There are some places that go beyond reality, and Palais Bulles, where Dior held their cruise 2016 show last week, is like a dream. You might have seen some of the photos from G’s Instagram, but this home in Cannes is so surreal and beautiful that we wanted to see a little more…
In the Studio, we’ve been so inspired just looking at the pages of this book on the unique palace of “bubbles”. Home to famous French couturier Pierre Cardin now for more than twenty years, it was the original vision of Hungarian architect Antti Lovag. We love the rounded designs that you see throughout, and the otherworldly details…
In the book’s preface, Cardin writes, “Something of a gallery of living art, in a state of perpetual motion, the Palais Bulles is for me a constant and powerful image of creativity… In the nomadic life I lead, in my search for the absolute, as crazy as it is marvelous, no other place offers me the depth of sustenance and support that I feel at the Palais Bulles.”
And we think he’s right.

Il y a une maison bulle magnifique en Ardèche, entièrement construite par Joel Unal son propriétaire (sur vingt ans de 73 à 90), qui est du coup devenu un des grands spécialistes du voile de béton en France. C’est l’architecte Claude Haüsermann qui a élaboré les plans de cette maison superbe, que j’ai eu la chance de visiter ! Mais oui, c’est la maison des Barbapapa, elle m’a fait rêver cette maison, toute mon enfance et plus récemment quand je l’ai redécouverte avec mes kids. Ils adorent aussi!! Se visite-t-elle?
C’est marrant “bulles” “barbapapa”… la première fois que je l’ai vue, plantée sur sa colline, elle m’a évoqué des extraterrestres vintages. Ben oui, ça ne doit pas exister mais cette maison les a fait exister très clairement dans ma tête :-)
