Larissa Gunn’s Kingston Jamaica
7 years ago by
Friend, casting agent, and lady behind Balmyard Beauty, Larissa Gunn, gives us the low down on Kingston, Jamaica, a city she frequents for work and play. On a snow day in NYC, Jamaica sounds pretty amazing.
Favorite thing about visiting Jamaica:
The vibe!
Favorite place to eat:
Hot Pot in New Kingston has a nice authentic Jamaican breakfast. I have also heard that Patra opened up a jerk centre in Stony Hill that is supposed to be great! There are also some amazing under the radar Chinese spots but you’d have to ask a local which one is best.
Best souvenir someone could bring back:
Hot sauce.
Best place for a cocktail:
I tend to stick to local roadside bars, but for something fancier a sunset cocktail overlooking the city at Strawberry Hill is worth the drive.
Most unexpected thing about the city:
The music and dance scene, again ask a local for advice on what parties are happening. The National Gallery downtown also houses an incredible collection of the country’s art/artists and is a must see in my opinion.
It’s great to see my country featured! There is soo much more than the beautiful beaches to enjoy..culture, fashion, art, the food, the people…missing home *sigh*!
