The other day I stumbled upon this beautiful object in one of the many Chinese shops near our office. As it turns out, it wasn’t just decorative – in fact, it’s been around since the 7th century: a jade roller! Meant to de-puff, drain the body of toxins and balance one’s qi.
Mostly it feels nice, the stone is naturally cold, and extra cool if kept in the refrigerator. Plus you can put your favorite under-eye cream on and roll it in for increased penetration of the product. I see it working, if ever so gently. But also – its just nice to have around!

As a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, I use this on my clients as part of their Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments. It feels cooling and soothing on the skin, particularly after a treatment.
For myself, I use it in the evenings as I put on various lotions and potions – I feel it helps to absorb the product, distributes Qi energy and promotes collagen production. You have to try it to feel it – it feels wonderful.
I’ve been wondering what those things are for! I feel that if anything, they make for cute bathroom accessories!
