There’s nothing like throwing shade with some great sunglasses.
The most practical accessory of the bunch, they hold a special place in my heart. Over the years, I’ve tried so many styles in all kinds of crazy colors and shapes — but I always come back to a classic pair. These — my long-loved tortoise shell ones from Illesteva — or my Ray-Ban Club Masters (G has the same pair!).
Both have travelled with me across continents and are firm essentials, beating out the metallic and “pop of color” options any day of the week (no matter how much I love trying those every now and then). Is there anything as good as a classic?
When it comes to sunglasses, do you go for something fun or a more classic style?

I love the idea of bright, standout shades – I tried on a fantastic pair of bright blue Ray-Bans this weekend that I fell in love with! – but at the end of the day, I’m too frugal to spend good money on something that will be out next summer. So if I’m getting something bright or quirky, they’re going to be cheap. If I’m buying good quality shades, they’ll be classic styles & colours.
My go to style is the wayfarer. Then I choose any color — from black to bright pink. I feel it fits my face shape the best. :]

I love sunglasses, have easily 20 pairs, yet the ones I reach for again and again are a pair of Dries Van Noten tortoiseshell frames, not all that different from the ones in the photo. They have just enough of a quirk about them to always make them look very cool and very flattering — I always get compliments on them. If I ever lose them, I’ll be in a panic!
Love these! I’ve always been finicky when it comes to finding shades I like, and I tend to buy new ones all the time. However, I did just invest in the “Morning After” sunnies from Quay Australia, and I already know they’ll have my heart for a long time to come!
