Babouche Babouche
8 years ago by
Have you noticed? The babouche is back in a big way.
Maybe you saw it coming too… I happened to purchase a few pairs from a very random vendor in Paris last September (the ones from The Floral Edit!). I don’t know why, but I looked in the shop and it just felt right. Like the babouche was calling my name…
Brie….you love an easy shoe that is basically a slipper…. come hither!
And so I did. But I noticed afterwards that they were all over the Spring 16 shows! And now they’re hitting stores – just in time for everyone to enjoy in the slide making life easier… It’s easier to take my shoes off at the airport, easier to put on actual slippers at the office (yes, we all have LL Bean slippers and they are amazing), and easier to throw them on when you’re in a hurry. Which is always.
Plus their pointed toe is elegant – it elongates the leg without having to actually wear heels. And over at Studio Doré, no one says no to comfort. Maybe I’m an oddball for liking these – but perhaps its finally time we come to terms with the very lax way of living… in slippers.
Shoes from left to right : The Row, Acne Studios, Céline, Derek Lam
I don’t like flat shoes but as my feet can’t often bear the high heels I have to wear shoes with small heel.
I’d have to try them..
If I could I’d only wear high heels. They are the only things that make your legs look great.

that’s funny. this winter I was eying this banana republic flat, Anika Italian Leather Flat. it has a back but the side silhouette is similar to the babouche. I also liked the pointy toe and low heel. I settled for a pair of detailed loafers though (b/c I still cannot rationalize buying nice shoes that are full price, sigh).
hopefully the pic would appear with this link…

Love it!

Great, until you run for a bus and they go flying off your feet.
You’re not an oddball, Brie, cause I also love the babaouche slippers for all the reasons you shared! The only problem in my mind is they’re just not right for me because I’d be the person to roughly swish my foot forward with such verve that the slipper would fly off my foot and hit the toosh or the back head of the person walking in front of me! That or fly up in the air and land hitting my head. Either way, very embarassing. The art of walking is a very real!
Je n’aime pas. C’est laid, ça fait des grands pieds et c’est loin d’être élégant. Horreur absolue!
Well, I suppose these are better than trainers… x
J’adore les Babouches, et d’ailleurs c’est la tendance de cet été.. Big Love
