Vicki in Morocco
6 years ago by
I have not been lucky enough to meet Vicki in person yet, but judging from these photos and our brief interaction over email — I can’t wait. She was one of the guests at our Morocco retreat last year where everyone else also fell instantly in love with her style, and more importantly her. Also, anyone who is game to jump on a bed to get the photo is someone I will get along with famously. Not to mention she looks so good while doing it.
Can you describe what you’re wearing and how it reflects your personal style?
Perhaps my personal style could be best described as classic with a twist. I like contrasts.
The embellished shoes don’t have much to do with the neutral look but somehow in Marrakech, they seemed right. They were the touch of whimsy amongst the conservative. The same goes with the leather and pearl bracelets. I love them worn on both wrists and in this case, more is more.
By now, I know what I like and what is comfortable to wear. My approach to maturing is all about being “better not younger” especially when it comes to dressing.
What are the most important qualities of an outfit when you get dressed – how does this look achieve it?
An outfit should be a reflection of our personal style. I like to put an outfit on and feel like it’s me. I don’t want to feel like I am trying too hard or I am wearing pieces from someone else’s closet. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the most flattering or from the latest collections but it does have to make me feel fabulous – and comfortable. Feeling comfortable is everything; wearing the outfit rather than it wearing you.
What are your must have wardrobe items?
Blazers, coats and capes, for every possible scenario. A tailored jacket worn in a feminine way is the best. Black pants – to wear with just about everything. Fine cashmere sweaters – the winter staple go-to. The perfect plain tee – for me that’s a longer length sitting just above the hips with a sleeve that sits 3/4 of the way down the arm and a high round neck. A black dress –are there ever too many? My current favourite is a silk shift with long sleeves. Cashmere wrap – the larger and cosier the better. Shoes – they are the true ‘deal breakers’. A great shoe can take an outfit wherever you want it to go. And a spectrum of red lipsticks…
Love seeing the post on Vicki! It was great meeting her in Marrakech and her style in indeed fantastic!!!!!! :)

Bonjour,
On peut dire que les styles que vous décrivez sont classiques mais attirants et c’est toujours mieux d’inventer un look propre à nous.
En passant, quelques touches de tuniques sexy feront bien l’affaire: https://viva-femina.fr/tunique-femme
A bientôt !
Classic with a twist ! It sounds like cocktail!
Maybe that’s how we should describe personal style.
-“She looks fabulous, like a bold fruity Chardonnay “
-“ With the confidence of a Manhattan , her personal style is delicious “
– “ She’s classic with a twist, a gin martini ? with lemon not an olive”
As many people as many personal styles,
Ciao for now.

I’ve been a fan of Vicki’s eponymous blog for quite some time. How fun to see these photos of her. She never ceases to be an inspiration.
