We had a heat wave this week in NY – and by that, I mean, the weather allowed us to show our ankles for approximately 24 hours between the arctic temperatures.
A brief moment of warmth to bring out those mules you just bought on sale and un-wrap that scarf that’s been serving as a make-shift balaclava.

The Winter Shuffle
I know they are terribly hip, but mules are just so ugly. They make feet look misshapen, and make people walk like thye are the inmates of insane asylum from the 1940’s.

You guys! I did exactly that — I was traipsing around DC on Friday in the lavender mules I had just bought on sale, moss-green ankle pants I had previously considered putting away for the winter, a dark green turtleneck, superlong navy cardigan and a navy scarf. I suspected I was being a bit impractical as I got dressed but I liked the kind of moody rainbow my outfit created and it put me in a good mood after a rough week that involved a root canal so I didn’t care. To my surprise it was such a beautiful day and that outfit combined with the weather made me feel like I was cheating winter all day. It felt like magic.
