Things I Can Do Right Now #6

Just belt it!
Ahhh so easy, yet so complex ;)
I love a belted dress because you have so many options. It can polish it off, like this look from Tod’s or add a bit of edge to something a little fancier like at Bottega Veneta. It’s also a nice trick for making your summer dresses work for fall, the weather is still warm enough for them, but adding a heavier belt makes them work perfectly for fall.
Oh, and remember Meredith in this dress?
It’s a look you can totally do right now. What do you think?
Qu’est-ce que c’est beau une robe ceinturée, particulièrement sur une maxi chemise!
J’adore.

I’m a big fan of belting it! Not noly on large dresses but also on large shirts.
Great inspiration!

What a great idea, can’t wait to try it out!

Sometimes I think…I don’t got the waist for it, but then I remember, I can rock it!
Your Friend, Jess
I definitely agree. Belting a dress can really change the entire feel of an outfit.

Love it. I remember seeing a very chic woman in Paris (natch!) wearing a thin silver belt with a khaki Army shirt worn over a simple white linen sheath dress. Of course I spent the rest of my time in Paris looking for a thin silver belt. I also love the look of a long tunic top worn belted over a skirt, a la Tod’s.
Love this look, especially when the belt has an interesting buckle, texture or print like the snakeskin. Here’s a tip – a tightly belted belt does not maketh a flattering waistline!
I don’t own any for some reason, but I’m a big fan of those wide belts like the one pictured here in the center. The fact that they’re reminiscent of corsets makes them even more fun.
I’m a big fan of belting dresses. Haven’t used wide belts for a while, the dress on Liu Wen has inspired me to do the same with my oversized shirt dresses.

I love belts, but no can do I’m afraid. I have no waist! And it’s not an area you want to draw attention to unless it’s in ship-shape. A bulge below the belt is not chic. More sit ups, I think…
I don’t think I ever wore a dress without a belt. If I don’t wear a belt, I look like a big potato sack :)
Hello Garance,
