When it’s cold and there is no sun, happiness is a colorful coat. It pumps up everybody’s mood and it’s perfect for the complexion. Red is perfection.
So that’s what I did yesterday – I was so tired of looking like a Walking Dead extra that I put on the red. Here is a picture Scott took of me.
So obviously, the moment I take anti-zombie face measures, the sun comes back. Oh well.
(Ok, ok!!! I know. White bag with white shoes? Fashion crazyness, breaking of all the fashion rules! Too matchy matchy G, seriously! Yeah all right but that’s not the subject – the subject is red I remind you. Well the thing is, I didn’t have time to change my bag. But we dont care as the subject is RED !)
Apart from that, right now I am really into white shoes and I love my white purse – I’ll tell you about it later.
Now for some real red perfectionness, let’s go back to Joanna Hillman.
Pfffff Oh my god this post doesn’t mean anything, look – doesn’t it just smell like end of fashion week when I am all tired and my brain is just all cray cray blah blah? I guess sooooo!
Ok! Three more days! I will survive!!!!! Or not.

Your coat is amazing!! I had a red coat years ago when I was younger (like 15) and never wanted to wear it cos I felt it was too loud and old fashioned.. so I sold it. I’ve been regretting this last year.

Le rouge est partout cette année à Paris mais surtout dans les blousons, les manteaux. Et la tu as trouvé des beaux rouges, ce qui est difficile. Un beau rouge cerise bien mure.

I love both red coats! However, over here, most people wearing red coats in winter are the jolly housewife types, who want to wear something ‘a little bit crazy’ or ‘nice and bright’. It is typically combined with a cheap fake leather hand bag and a bad perm/other type of 80s hairdo. So I’m not too sure about wearing a red coat myself :)

Le rouge c’est une belle couleur, mais difficile à matcher. Rouge et blanc, ça fait Noël, rouge et noir ça fait gothique. Finalement, je préfère le rouge avec du gris (la couleur parfaite) ou d’autres couleur, tant qu’il n’y en a pas plus de 3.
L’accord souliers/sac a main est d’autant plus voyant que c’est du blanc ! Moi les souliers blancs, je n’y arrive pas, ça fait cheap. Je préfère un beige clair ! Les sacs blancs j’ai un peu du mal aussi…
Bref, c’est compliqué les couleurs !

Coucou Garance, le manteau rouge c’est super pour donner bonne mine et le moral en hiver. J’adore tes pumps blanches. J’ai juste question fhashion hyper super importante et cruciale : tu es nu-pieds ou bien tu portes des mi-bas couleur peau, nude dans tes shoes??? c’est vraiment une question qui me taraude car par ce froid, c’est juste impossible pour moi de me balader pieds nus dans des escarpins……

Pas génial votre look Garance, les pièces sont belles mais l’association pas très réussie. Et la coiffure est à revoir.
Je trouve les chaussures blanches vraiment moches, exception faite des derbies et autres zizi Repetto (chassures plates). Autrement, ça fait filles de l’Est “pas très distinguées”. Je m’excuse d’avance pour ce raccourci pas très flatteur et réducteur mais c’est l’image qui me vient immédiatement en tête.
Actually, your white shoes and bag work well together–but only because the white shoes are covered w studs. That makes them look almost like a patterned shoe with a white background. Very chic w the solid white bag, in my opinion.
Garnce you are so beautiful in red and I personally don’t mind that you matched the bag with the shoes. Your outfit has black, white, red…a fourth color would be too much in the equation!
Wear more color and….stay strong! Two days more!

Matchy matchy?? If you think about it, Joanna is match-matchy too! I don’t have a problem with either. If you didn’t have the white bag, the white shoes would be too random in that situation, I think.

Oh Garance, la couleur te va bien! Je veux dire, j’adore le gris, le beige, le marine, le noir, le camel itou itou, mais une touche de couleur c’est juste magnifique! Nous, commun des mortels, souvent on évite parce-que je trouve que dès que c’est coloré, il faut de la qualité, dans la coupe, la matière et la couleur elle-même! Tous les rouges ne se valent pas (call me Guéant), faut le talent du coloriste derrière. Ce manteau est miam!!!
Ah oui je suis tout à fait d’accord avec toi, le manteau rouge donne la banane/frite/pêche ! J’hésite toujours à en acheter un, pour ces avantages, mais aussi parce que je pense que je ne pourrais pas le mettre au quotidien (le jour ou je veux être discrète par exemple et que j’assume pas). Donc avoir au moins 2 manteaux (oui je sais ca doit te faire rire toi qui en a heu 4, 5, 10, plein). Du coup j’en ai 1 et bleu marine…

Oui, d’accord, Johanna Hillman est parfaite, mais à regarder des modèles parfaits, on se sent toujours désavantagées….en tout cas ton portrait (pas de pose, de la spontanéité!), est tout aussi flatteur….sac et chaussures de la même couleur ouais……mais les semelles, c’est ça, le détail qui tue! Bravo Garance!
PS: je ne sais pas si tu lis le Times, mais ton post sur le port de la fourrure était pile dans l’actualité: le supplément Style de mon vénérable quotidien British a fait tout un papier sur le sujet (et ta copine éditrice de Tank était d’ailleurs photographiée et citée sur le sujet). I was SO tired of the depressing winter colours that I bought a bright pink shirt yesterday and I’m wearing it today under my red coat :) You can’t get anything but happy about that.

Moi aussi manteau rouge ! Pour l’hiver, depuis plusieurs années, je ne jure que par un manteau rouge.é Ça remonte le teint et le moral d’un coup le matin avant de sortir !
Moi aussi en ce moment je suis focus sur les chaussures blanches -OK ce n’était pas le sujet- mais vraiment je trouve ça trop trop classe, j’ai en ce moment même 10 fenetres google chrome ouvertes sur sarenza QUE des chaussures blanches, ça fait un peu original et parfaita en même temps … l’effet du blanc quoi. Love.
Bon j’invente rien, mais entre nous les chaussures de couleurs (blanc ou rouge notamment. mon autre passion du moment) ça donne vraiment un style super, je trouve.

J’ai deux manteaux rouges que j’adore : l’un est un Zara d’un rouge vif sublime, toujours aussi beau après des années et des années (ah, les manteaux Zara…) et l’autre d’un rouge tout doux, trapèze comme le tien mais a manches courtes.
Je les adore (et je trouve qu’ils vont avec tout !) mais je vois si peu souvent des gens en rouge dans la rue que j’imaginais que le rouge était complètement passe de mode… Merci de nous rappeler a quel point une belle couleur est toujours cool !

Ton manteau est trop beau! Et sinon en ce moment je suis attirée par les chaussures de couleur nude ou beige, blanc cassé (car pr moi chaussures blanches = trop salissant).
C’est tjs bien le rouge – surtout en hiver quand il manque de couleurs! Moi aussi, j’ai un faible pour les chaussures blanches cette année ;) excellente sélection, Garance! Puis, chez nous la combo rouge-blanc en mars, c’est un vrai porte-bonheur et symbolise la bonne santé et la longévité (bon, longue histoire de tradition mais quand même…;)

Justement Garance, à l’heure ou tout le monde veut être cool, éclectic et dématchy dématchy, tout ce qui est coordonné devient intéressant et original juqu’au jour où bien entendu, cela deviendra branché.

Tu est magnifique malgré “l’écart” du match chaussures-sac, je n’aurais pas pensé à porter un sac blanc en hiver mais c’est très cool. Je suis d’avis de ne jamais coordonner les chaussures et les sacs, les chaussures devant être coordonnées à ce qui est porté dans la partie “basse” du corps,mais ce n’est que ma modeste opinion.

actually I think the white shoes and the white bag work even if not planned. the shoes are kind of punk couture and the bag is classic. I have always avoided white b/c I’m kind of a perfectionist but I know I will always get white dirty. but last winter I wanted a pair of converse tennies and they didn’t have olive or grey in my size. so I bought white. I have to wash them (I think for the 2nd time) and this sometimes makes me feel guilty when I wear them. I like to see other people wear white though.

I love the combination of your red coat, faded black jeans and white shoes & bag! Matching your shoes and bag may be matchy-matchy but I love the contrast between the white, black and red. There is something so beautiful about sticking with just a few colors that contrast with each other well and make a bold statement together. :)

all cray cray? hahah you’ve really become a New Yorker! not sure how I feel about words like cray cray showing up on this blog but other than that, this post tells exactly what I was thinking today! didn’t wear a red coat as I don’t have one but I did pull out my red full circle skirt, that I only ever wear in late winter/early spring because that’s the time I need some red in my life (as a ginger I usually refrain from red). all geniuses think alike, right? no? hahah anyway it worked for me, although I didn’t look nearly as fabulous as the two of you do!
