Some strange things are happening on the ring front : the knuckle ring is on every finger this fashion week.

Most of the time you see them on over accessorized hands (rings + knuckle rings + crazy mani = od) but I love them worn simply, just like this. It’s so sensual.

The only problem I have is that the only time I wore a knuckle ring, I lost it two hours after putting it on. They don’t stay on my fingers. Yet another part of my body that’s not adapted to fashion!!! Mmmmm. Bah, I love it on others!

Have you ever tried these kinds of rings? Do you like them? Do they fit you?

PS: The rings are by Monique Péan

  • I love those rings on her. But my hands are not made for rings either. They make my fingers look like a rolled rost. Very charming, no?

  • Skinny rings are so cute! I wear them all the time, check it out:

  • I really like them – but I don’t think i have the right fingers to keep them on! How do they stay without cutting off the circulation??

  • Anne-Sophie February, 15 2013, 9:05 / Reply

C’est ravissant ! J’adore les bagues fines !! Quelle est la marque ?

  • I agree. Where DO you find these rings? The finer, thinner ones sure look more… elegant? And god knows I could always use more elegant around here.

  • Salut Garance!

Comme toi, j’ai jamais réussi à porter “knuckle rings”. However, I do like wearing a ring on my index finger. You should take a look at how accessories have changed and adapted over the past couple of seasons; everything is either very simple or very extravagant!

    Much love from Montreal,

  • J’adore !

  • They look so nice, I’d love to try them on :)

  • Oui magnifique !! Bisous !

  • i love them but it’s not my style!!!

  • I love them! I have three in rose gold from Etsy that I wear every day. I feel naked without them. Yours are beautiful! xo

  • I got 2 knuckle ring a while back and I love them, you probably got a size to big. But I like to mix them with plain regular rings.

  • This is a beautiful photograph. I love that her hands are so beautifully shaped with short, unpolished nails. It is the way I am most comfortable with my own hands — though I like nail polish on everyone else!

  • These are beautiful. I love thin gold rings even if they aren’t on the knuckle. Does anyone know where to buy cheapish ones?

  • They look very pretty. I think I could only wear them as long as they were as subtle and delicate as these.

  • I think it is more of a life style than a fashion thing to wear rings. I wear them if I go out in the evening but during the day I hardly ever wear rings. I see a lot of girls wearing simple rings all the time and I think they just got used to it. I like rings but I don’t see how they make beautiful hands more beautiful. They are more like tattoos, an expression thing.

  • Oh cool…

  • Love knuckle rings!! I have been wearing them for a year now!! For me the best is to buy a pinky ring and wearing it as a knuckle ring too!!

  • Look so nice and I like that pic. Have a great friday,

Donc en somme, it’s a no for me. Je dirais que this trend will not keep trending!

Please, let’s just stay with simple objects that like you say “do not fall off” after 2 hours…

  • had a knuckle ring for all of three days too! love them but apparantly my fingers didnt!

  • Is it “trending”?
    Trèèèès joli!

  • So a knuckle ring is an ill-fitting ring? And it’s in style? Shoot, I’ve got some of those. But I am pretty sure nobody’s fingers are made for keeping these rings…unless you want to get one that’s super tight!

  • love them! I had 2 (lost one) – very simple and elegant in a bohemian chic way – I think the trick is to get the ring to mold to your finger a bit…

  • Lovely ring :) you can see photo of Garance on our site, she’s so gorgeous ! :))

  • I love rings and have WAY too many, I prefer a mix of clean and simple with a few statement pieces. I only wear silver jewelry. My older sister placed a tiny silver band on my left index finger back in my teens. It’s been there ever since, I have a stack of three to five rings I wear on my left middle finger as well. It sounds like a lot but as long as your other jewelry is simple it works. I never wear colour on my nails. I think I agree with the person who said rings are like a tatoo, they tell a story of not only who you are but how you want to be seen by others. Rings are also deeply personal, my father had a signet ring that he wore until he was hospitalized, he gave that to me. I wore it on a chain around my neck until one of my brothers asked for it. Years later I went to the jeweler, that made my fathers ring and had one made that fits me, it’s not my fathers but I feel much closer to him when ever I wear it.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines day.

  • Beautiful! I actually never liked them, but this version really has style! For people with long fingers I think they can look fabulous, obviously. But they are sure not for me, being a mother and with a job in which you need to wash your hands often… well, not happening…. xxx

  • tried once but lost it !! it must fit your fingers perfectly…

  • talking about body features unadaptable to fashion – my dream nail shape is like the ones in this picture – i like to keep my nails short, but they are shaped sO square-ish and unproportional to my hands

  • PLEEEAAASSSSE share the source of these rings! They are breathtaking!

:/ (eurk)

  • Ah ouais, j’aime vraiment beaucoup!

  • I have to say, I prefer the unadorned hands to those overly metalized. The simplicity of these rings gives, as you said, a sensual quality to the hand.

  • I really wanna try the knuckle rings (thank for letting me know their name!!), but I’m not sure if my fingers are long enough to wear them…

  • Love, love, love the tiny narrow rings. Going to find some for myself. Have always loved the way knuckle rings look. Anthony Bourdain has worn a knuckle ring on his thumb for years. Thanks for ‘trending’ this our way, Garance!

  • Love them – rings and earrings are my jewelry of choice. I haven’t worn knuckle rings, but I like the look – I will have to try it!

  • I love them! My boyfriend and I got matching engagement rings with matching knuckle rings on the ring finger!!

  • I simply love it! It looks so chic, and I really adore those on the photo.
    Where are they from ?

  • Nini Piccola February, 15 2013, 1:39 / Reply

I absolutely love these!!!! If you can’t wear these on your knuckles just buy a bigger size and wear it in the normal spot. Where can we buy these and who designed the mini-eternity rings???

  • Yes I LOVE these! They have been on my list since the new year and I’m soon to go on a hunt around the city for some lovely handmade ones. Maybe some of the boutiques in LES?

  • love the idea, love the look…but! my fingers are obviously not the right shape either. ho hum!!

  • mine stay on like they were meant for my otherwise strangely sized fingers – but when I take them off, there are definite semi-disconcerting indentations. ha! oh well. I love them. the diamond set would be a niiice upgrade :)

  • Ah yes, I’m loving this new jewelry trend as well, but alas I have yet to purchase any. By the time I do I probably will be too late;) But yes, I’m really digging it.

  • I really love the knuckle rings but the thing; they irritate the hell out of me when I wear them myself. Conclusion: I keep admiring the rings on other people ;) xx

  • Oui, OK, j’adore,

  • I guess I’m too practical (and not fashionable enough) for this. Why would I want to wear a ring that I’m bound to loose?

  • This reminds me, I’m eager to hear how Alex’s gel manicure is going. I’ve been thinking about getting one but want to know if it looks too thick.

  • Love them ! I used to loose them as well but then I found out that if you have to get one that is slightly to small, it is a bit uncomfortable at the beginning, but it stays and you don’t feel it anymore ! x

  • It’s flu season and I wash my hands way too much and wear way too much hand cream. I’d loose it within 30 mins! I do love those thin whispers of precious metal though, been wanting some for a while now.

  • I think this is a trend that has to be taken with a grain of salt; I think that they will look great on some people’s hands ( like the hands in the picture) but for people like me, it wouldn’t work (I have really big hands, so I think that it wouldn’t look right on me). I think that the smaller and more slender the hands, the better it will look. I do agree with Madrid Street Style. At least for me, rings are personal. The only ring that I wear is a family heirloom passed down from daughter to daughter.

  • I was told these rings are not for me either.

Apparently they work best if you have boney knuckles to keep them in place, whereas if you have tapered fingers they will just slide right off. I’m so tempted to try again and just risk it, but if you say you lost yours after a few hours it makes me think that some of us are just not destined to have them…

  • I like knuckle rings, I’m really thinking about buying one. The rings in the photos are beautiful but so expensive! Of course diamond are forever…

  • I love these but suspect they probably won’t fall off my fingers, rather I don’t think I’ll be able to get them on!

  • Thanks for this post!
    the rings are beautiful…
simple and understated, yet extremely elegant.

    oooo… i sense a shopping spree soon…

  • Yeeeeeeah, another in the “it would fall straight off” camp. I can’t wear a ring unless it’s been custom sized — nobody sells fun costume-jewelry rings in size 3.5, and what is the point of taking my cheap crap to be sized? [sigh] I could probably make a knuckle ring work as a regular everyday band.

  • so simple and beautiful!! i can imagine i would just lose them as well though! :S

    january, x

  • Yep, I love them. In this tiny version but als the big, chunky ones. I must admit that I’m not feeling very relaxed while wearing them (they tend to fall off all the time), but darn it, they look good! :)

  • C’est trop beau… raffiné, magnifique, élégant…

  • So pretty – but they only work if the bony bit just under your fingernails is bigger than the circumference of the joint under it. Otherwise, it is very uncomfortable if you do a lot of manual work (as I do). They won’t really stay on my bony fingers, unfortunately… but the one on my thumb is fine (hasn’t fallen off in nine weeks… I’ll to see if winter makes my fingers shrink and hopefully my thumb ring will remain firmly on.

The knuckle ring needs to be quite small so that it does not fall off… but that can mean risking a blood clot in summer – or gangrene – in your fingers, due to its tightness!

  • I like them, but I have small fingers and they don’t stay on them for very long.

  • I don’t love knuckle rings a lot – hehe but luckily like you wrote it’s quite easy for girls to lose them, so ok… :)

  • yes! i love wearing knuckle rings. but i rarely ever wear them when i’m out partying or busy rummaging through my bag because i’m always scared that i’ll lose it. it does seem to sliip off so easily and when i get one that fits tightly it starts to hurt. But they are so cute. FIrst saw them when FashionToast started wearing them and have been in love since. :)

  • I love the look of the knuckle rings, especially plain bands in rose gold. I first decided to try one out in silver since it’s not so costly. That was a good idea because it came flying off while washing my hands. I had to figure out the exact size and finger to wear it on (seems to stay on better on some fingers than others). Catbird ( in Brooklyn, NY has some really pretty, dainty versions in different metals. I’ve also bought some on Etsy at very reasonable prices, so you won’t cry if you lose it. Both Catbird and most sellers on Etsy can make the rings in practically any size, which is great (my fingers are really slim and I’ve always had a hard time finding rings that fit). Anyway, I love the rings in the photo, but would be too scared to wear a diamond knuckle ring for fear of losing it!

  • What is the source of the picture? I really like the large pinky ring, I’d like to find it.

  • Il y en a de très jolies sur !

  • marie A May, 6 2013, 4:00 / Reply

  • Garance – I completely agree with you about these rings. They’re delicate and feminine. I’m all on board with this trend.
