For Part 2 of our EDIT No.4 , its all about florals, florals and more florals! Garance spoke on the complications of flower prints just last week, so it felt like perfect timing to dive a little deeper into this enduring trend. And it goes without saying that it wouldn’t be spring without florals, now would it?
Florals are tricky! They are uber feminine, which actually doesn’t suit everyone, especially when you’re like me, who SO badly wants to be in the floral party too. What I loved about the Spring 16 collections was the overuse of stacking flower prints on top of one another. It kind of made this girly staple click for me, and Felicity was just the cool girly girl we had in mind to show you a few ideas!
The most important thing to remember is that flowers are fun! And they work well together because of it. When mixing, three noteworthy suggestions :
1 / Tone on tone prints work together seamlessly. Pink & white poppy print + pink & red rose print = love at first shirt tied around the waist.
2 / Pay attention to scale. If the flowers are all about the same size, somehow, no mater the color scheme variances, it feels fluid and easy.
3 / When you pair miniature flower prints with bold larger ones, the color tones need to have a common thread. Like the same cerise to make the connection smart and not weird.
But really, go wild! May your mentor in florals be Kurt Cobain or Blossom, mix until you have so many wrongs together it almost makes a right. Almost….
Look 1 : White Dress, Victoria Victoria Beckham ; Shoes , Céline ; Socks, Wolford ; Silver Earrings, Jennifer fisher / Look 2 : Yellow Floral Top, Mary Katrantzou ; Black Floral Skirt, Tibi ; Sandal, Tabitha Simmons / Look 3 : Pink dress, Simone Rocha; Shirt at waist, Equipment; Pearl Ring, Bibi van der Velden; Silver Ring, Jennifer Fisher; Shoes, stylists own / Look 4 : Floral Asymmetric Top , Joseph ; Pant , Zara ; necklace , Noor / Look 5 : Jacket , Creatures of the Wind; Teal Dress, 3.1 Phillip lim / Look 6 : Blue top and skirt , Michael Michael Kors ; Jacket , Victoria Beckham ; Sneakers , Adidas
They are so easy to overdo (outside the editorials). And make women transcend into cupcake dressing !
J’aime beaucoup le pantalon large, il a un petit coté 70 ‘s je trouve !
Ça donne envie de soleil et de chaleur, ce qui a Bordeaux n’est vraiment pas le cas ! :(

Belle journée,

The floral here look so great!
I usually like the print more than the clothes. :)

Florals are perhaps the one of the most ubiquitous motifs in fashion. Inherently beautiful, and available in a million different colors, textures, and styles, in different cultures we have different meanings ..but one commune idea is delicates
femininity ,fragile, in love mysterious…and maybe this is the reason why we are surrounded by flower prints…

I feel like Garance as regards floral and especially floral dresses. Spring is my least favorite season because each time, it’s time for floral prints and I do as if I don’t understand aha. I don’t think I have ever own a floral piece of clothing to be honest. It just does not fit my personality but looks amazing on Felicity in the edit. She looks vibrant and radiant. However, I can’t with the Celine shoes and the socks! :( I never understood the fashion trend of sock in shoes but I think I mostly take issue with Celine shoes in general as I find them extremely unflattering.

Merci.
You gotta have some great attitude to pull off the pink floral dress and not look like a kinder garden toddler. So, great job, this Edit looks amazing!

Where is the amazing brown trench from ?
Thank you :-)

It is a very small detail but I love the lace socks ! And I love those tips as well, as florals can be tricky to wear the right way.

Love your styling in combo with the very sympathic smile of Felicity (nomen est omen – perfect name for her!)
Yes! Finally a Blossom reference….. Loved this show…. That hat! Thx for the memory ????
