You recognize her, don’t you? It’s Anna Dello Russo, style icon to the extreme – here, in a Rochas jump suit and Valentino shoes (I have the same ones!!!) -, eccentric, adorable, appeared on The Sartorialist for the first time in 2006 and since became a fashion superstar via the internet.
And now, she’s got a blog, she bbms, she tweets, responds to 15,000 interviews at the same time, she is premiering her own perfume line and she has so much fun with this whole new starlet career that we’ve given her.
And I can’t help but love it.
I love that she has so much fun with everything, that she excercises for two hours every day and changes outfits three times daily just to satisfy her adoring public, that she’ll strike a pose and do it 50 times over (or 60, if you just ask her) in front of the streetstyle photographers who are all waiting for her and only her outside of the shows, that she always comes back and says thank you when you publish a photo of her, and she doesn’t walk away from fun. That she is never, ever, ever a snob.

C’est vrai qu’elle semble très avenante et cordiale.
Sur la plupart des photos d’elle, on la voit sourire, c’est plus agréable que les mannequins qui prennent la pose comme sur leur shopping en tirant la tronche (attention, je ne dis pas que tous les mannequins le font, juste que je n’aime pas celles dont c’est le cas).
Mais, à part être officiellement une fashionista, la mode n’est pas son métier?

Anna est fascinante… même de loin, au travers d’un écran.
Elle n’est pas à la mode, elle joue avec les vêtements et quels vêtements ! Ils la subliment et la protègent à la fois.
Cette combinaison couleur de soleil assortie de pilotes et elle mixe Peau d’Âne avec Top Gun,
magicienne de l’impossible, excentrique.

La vie est pleine de surprise! Wanna be un jour, Rédactrice le surlendemain et icône le jour d’après et femme d’affaires…Et GENTILLE ET PAS BLASEE…Genre “Oué mais voilà, moi blalbalalalala moua et moua”.
Il y a des gens qui semblent extraordinaires!
J’ai essayé de photograpgier la très graphique Anna à la sortie d’un défilé…Mais on était nombreux sur THE SHOOT de la life d’un fashion blooger…Un coup de coude malheureux (Mouéé mon oeil) et je fus éjecté de la mélée, le temps d’interpeller le coupable de lui exprimer mon point de vue 0_°, je me retourne enfin prête à faire la photo of THE MONTH et la belle avait déja disparu…
Peut-être réussirais-je cette semaine et par la même occasion à vous photographier aussi;)

C’est vrai qu’elle est fascinante. Mais moi je me demande bien comment elle peut faire tout ça!! Vu de l’extérieur, le rythme des fashions weeks me sidère! C’est la cas pour bcp de rédactrices de plus en plus demandées et convoitées. Mais comment font elles pour sourire, avoir bonne mine et être ultra-lookées pendant un mois d’affilée avec un emploi du temps pareil. Si j’y arrive 2 jours de suite, c’est un miracle!

Perhaps you are missing the point. The wonderful thing about ADR is that she has fun with fashion, she brings life back to what so many people take too seriously. She is outrageous and that is so refreshing after years of sour-faced expressionless Anna Wintour. Also, perhaps you should take a look at Vogue Nippon – the styling is amazing, the shoots are original and she is definitely offering something inspiring, creative, and inventive.

Autant Kate Moss, dont tu parlais hier, ne m’inspire pas -pourtant c’est une “superstar”…autant Anna star du net, m’inspire beaucoup! Elle semble…libre! La première que je l’ai vu, c’était sur un post que tu lui consacrais, tu l’avais shootée dans un grand hôtel… et je me suis dit “WTF!”. Elle AIME la mode, s’habille comme elle veut, faisant fi de ce que pensent les autres, ces excentricités me font toujours sourire, elle ose! j’aime vraiment ça et en plus elle sait être reconnaissante…cette femme m’inspire :)

Beautifully composed photo, Garance. While I often think Anna looks too “as seen on the runway” or over-accessorized, I love her joie de vivre that has her dressing for a fabulous cocktail party, no matter what time of day! Howver, between all the exercising and putting on clothes, I hope she makes time to eat. Many recent photos have her looking gaunt and emaciated. (And thus much older than her true age.)
Glad to hear she’s as much fun in person as she is in photos.

Excuse me, but Anna spent 18 years at Conde Nast Italia starting as a Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia she went on to become Editor of L’Uomo Vogue from 2000-2006.
It’s because she let you take her photo that you have become well known, not the other way around.

The french version has a entire different meaning !! This means :
“she has so much fun with this whole new starlet career which is opening un front of her”

but Anna Della Russo is not an image we should be buying into. the images of youth in the fashion industry are bad enough; we don’t need to glorify an 80 lb adult woman with an apparent penchant for botox.
i think it’s fantastic to acknowledge that she works out ‘two hours a day’, but, i’m sorry, a strong body is one with shapely curves; a body like that is the product of starvation.
(i LOVE fashion, and love your blog, but, as a dancer, a fitness professional, and a high school teacher, i can in no way condone her celebrity status.)
