What I love about Phillip Lim‘s collections is that they are so him. And, at the same time, everything is so wearable! He has a way of making the classics cool, like a trench updated with plaid or deconstructing the typical army parka a bit. But not so much you can only wear it one season because ohmygoditsTHAT coat.
The harness pieces were maybe my favorite detail this season, you saw them adorned with fur and used to fasten embellished sleeves onto a traditional coat. Adding a little bit of punk edge with the tail end flying through the air, but also making every piece a great transitional investment buy. Just saying…

Am I the only one shocked by the fur ? We all know what kind of suffering it takes, loving fashion shouldn’t mean being so selfish.
It makes me angry every time i see fur which happens to be more and more. the only thing that seems to count for fashion people is how beautiful they find fur- how beautiful is it to know about how cruel animals are treaten, how they get beaten and how their ‘beautiful’ fur is getting ripped while they’re still alive?
in times like this when fur can be copied without any cruelty, why does it still have to hit the runways that much?
i just do’t get it. but otherwise i do – as long as people don’t have to think about the bad things happening in the world, they don’t get followed by their conscience and everything’s fine…..

I’m sorry but the amount of real fur on the runways this season just puts tears in my eyes. Why do we still have to think real fur is glamorous when the means of obtaining it are so cruelly unthinkable. There are so few truly wild, beautiful creatures left on this planet, can’t we let wild things just be free and wild?

i think the use of fur is horrible – and, most of the times, impractical. on these designs it looks like an afterthought, an easy additional symbol of ‘chic’ and status. the clothes would look much better without the fur, and that makes the use of it all the more maddening – there is simply no excuse for it. why oh why are so many people so happy to forget what fur really is?
I agree Rollien. This is such a fabulous blog and I love Garance, but I’m not sure why there is promotion of fur when it has been proven to be cruel. People forget (or choose to ignore) that in order to produce these items animal’s feet are ensnared in steel-jaw traps, causing excruciating pain. Some animals are anally electrocuted or skinned alive. There is no need to wear fur. I just don’t think cruelty is ever chic. Thank you for your post.
