Noooo wayyyyyyyyyy! That’s not chocolate!!! It’s style! Look at those prints. All you want to do is buy all of them just so you can coordinate.
Okay, maybe I’m getting a little carried away. If you live in New York, maybe you know these super trendy Mast Brothers chocolates made in Brooklyn by two very bearded men and distributed to all the chicest coffee shops in NYC. When I first saw them, I was just a little annoyed by those $8 tablets that danced around in all my favorite places. And since I’m more snobby than the snobbiest of snobs, I snubbed them.
Well, as you can see, the chocolate won : one day I saw the bar with the fancy anchor design and I couldn’t resist all of the beauty in the packaging. I bought one, had a taste, and really, the blend of chocolate, salt and almond made me fall head over heels. Like Rachel Zoe said, I died.
I suppose I should add for full disclosure that I’m totally addicted to chocolate, so it doesn’t take much. At the Studio, there are some who understand that bringing me a bar of chocolate is the best way to bribe me. So all that said, last time I was in Brooklyn, I went looking for this goodness at the source.
Here’s a few photos of their awesome boutique (and you can see their chocolate “factory” in the background, which is far less frightening than Willy Wonka’s). And on that, I’ll let you go.
I have to go ease my chocolaty conscience with some yoga.

Mast Brothers Chocolate is fantastic! I live in Chicago, but there is a pizza place here called Great Lake that sells Mast Brothers. It’s always a good night when pizza and chocolate are involved.

Haha i don’t know who on earth could still ignore the Mast brothers’ existence… Being a chocaholic too i even send my lover over to New-York two years ago to bring me some back. Ok, she had to go anyway, but i forced her into walking and walking and walking to find them. She did it well. I’m still dreaming about their chocolate.

haaaa j’ai beau habiter à Paris, moi aussi je suis accro à leurs chocolats découverts au bedford cheese shop… j’espère que tu as goûté la tablette almond et truffle de l’hiver dernier (parce qu’ils sont forts, ils font des collections comme en mode) c’est une tuerie absolue. Depuis que whole foods les vend en petits lots avec imprimés assortis, c’est juste impossible de résister !
Dans les nouveaux parfums je te conseille très fortement vanilla&smoke et le brooklyn blend, trop délicieux !
Et depuis Noël ils les vendent aussi à Paris (à la grande épicerie of course), pas beaucoup plus cher qu’à NYC, donc tout va bien…

I’m a dairy free (cow’s milk) ‘dark chocolate addict’. When I realised that this included forgoing one of my favourite Aussie chocolate treats (Violet Crumble) I decided to make my own honeycomb and I coat it in Lindt dark chocolate. I package it up in funky noodle boxes, branded, of course with my business logo stickers (a stereophonic VU meter) and my clients ABSOLUTELY love it! Handmade is a true way to people’s hearts.
BTW after 5 years of grinding sweaty exercising I’m back doing yoga. It’s really THE only and THE BEST thing that works for my body. Strange, but true.

I like the packaging but still, it’s a little pretentious, I mean 8$ for a bar of chocolate, really ? And the hipster/organic chocolate shop tops it off

We used to sell this chocolate at a store I worked in! I have to say it is absolutely worth the splurge. Of all the chocolate companies I tasted theirs is the best. I LOVE how they actually make the chocolate in their studio (unlike every other company who imports it already made)-that’s partially why it’s so expensive. However, that is also why it tastes so fresh. Chocolate will never be the same after this! My favorites are the fleur de sal and almond and sea salt! Or just plan dark chocolate!!! So soo happy you’re giving them more press <3
Il ne doit pas y avoir beaucoup de monde sur cette planète qui n’aime pas le chocolat, surtout en ce qui concerne les femmes (ou alors les hommes aiment moins l’avouer de peur de paraître trop tendre).
Le chocolat c’est si bon mais malheureusement on ne peut pas abuser des bonnes choses sous peine de prendre perpétuité sur un tapis de gym! Quel dommage!!

This may sound really odd, but as an unlucky lady allergic to soy, I have discovered I can’t eat most chocolate bars. They most all use soy lecithin as an emulsifier. However, to my delight I have discovered how to find truly amazing chocolate: chocolate made with cocoa butter instead of soy. Doesn’t that make sense? Sound great? Obviously I have to shop that way, reading all the labels, but I now believe that discerning chocolate gourmands should as well. You really can taste the difference.

I work in a sweet shop and I truly wish that there was more beautiful packaging out there like this! It gets so dull looking at the same basic design again and again, and since I can’t eat any of the products due to my food intolerances (the owners don’t mind staff ‘sampling’) it would be nice if at least my eyes could be delighted!

Avant de les acheter chez Dean & Deluca, je pensais que les chocolats M&B étaient surtout très beau. Mais après les avoir goûtés, il m’a bien fallu admettre qu’ils étaient délicieux. C’est un chocolat raffiné, aussi beau que bon.
Pourquoi diantre les mets les plus gourmands et branchés sont toujours imaginés par des hommes diablement barbus ?
Et maintenant c’est moi qui meurt devant ces supers chocolats que la distance Paris / NYC ne m’autorise pas à manger. Ahhhhhhhh !

I was in NY two years ago. Before I went there I saw them in a magazine in Spain. I quickly looked up where could I buy them and I had them by my third day in NY. I still have the packaging because as you said it’s so beautiful.
