At Mirabelle’s

We went to Mirabelle’s place in Brooklyn the other day. She lives in Red Hook, which is this super cool, emerging neighborhood right by the water.
A lot of artists and other creatives live there, and her home really reflects the individuality of the area – and Mirabelle’s love of art. There were so many unique touches, pieces she’s collected from all over the world. Her collection of art is one of the best I’ve ever seen – some were handed down from her family, others are special pieces she picked up along the way.
She lives such a blissful Brooklyn lifestyle with her two dogs Chop and Rita Hayworth…
J’aime beaucoup cette déco hétéroclite ! Ce sont vraiment les objets personnels et “originaux” qui donnent une âme et du charme au lieu !

I might be the only one, but I dont see anything amazing there. Bunch of random things from some parts of the world. I did not study art, so maybe I’m just an ignorant, but I live in Brooklyn myself (Wburg) and it seems that people think that of it’s Brooklyn it must soo cool.
But in a way Brooklyn IS sooo cool. It seems to have become what Manhattan once was when it was affordable and full of creative people and ideas. Albeit, I’m speaking of a time when Manhattan was full of immigrants or 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants…still, seems everyday there’s some kind of new start-up and it’s good to see progressive stuff in America.
She was saying that the neighborhood is cool, which it is. And not just because it’s “Brooklyn.” Red Hook has a really great art scene, awesome restaurants, and feels like a little seaside town instead of the city. It’s a lot like Williamsburg used to be, before Dunkin Donuts moved in.

So light-filled and clean looking…I’d steal quite a few of her decor items. Love those old watering cans/coffee pots as flower vases.
my friend Thomas built that house! Interesting – the changes she made, they make it almost unrecognizable to me.
Her flat is everything I aspire for mine to be!! Love the brightness of the white with pops of color and interesting art and decos. Also, that bed, gorgeous!!

So chosy! Love this bright light and spot of colors, I’m longing most before spring pops up.
It’s hard to comment because the pictures don’t show very much. Is the in an apt., a condo or a house? How big is it, how many rooms and what room is she in in the photos? There seems to be a lot of random things but I don’t see any ‘art’ unless I just don’t get it. It’s bright and happy looking with fresh flowers and lots of books but that’s all I see. Why are the chairs right in front of the stairs?
