A Nautical Journey … with Tommy Hilfiger

If ever there was a show during NYFW with grander theatrics, I would be first in line to attend (ticket bought requested well in advance). And in the case of the Tommy Hilfiger runway show Monday, I may have actually been the first passenger on board his aptly named T.H. Atlantic ship setting sail.
Tommy Hilfiger knows how to put on a show that says power. Models, decor, celebs, and even an Insta-pit (a special spot to shoot instagram) nothing is left out. There’s the lineup of pop-culture vixens : Gigi Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Taylor Hill, Stella Maxwell along with runway favorites Lineisy Montero , Imaan Hamman, Julia Nobis and Mica Arganaraz, and of course that crazy set that makes you feel like you’re about to step into a movie – like you sometimes feel at Chanel, Marc Jacobs or Prada.
So we thought it could be cool to take you on a (boat) ride with us today.
Of course, because it is fashion, the details are being polished until the last minute, so we visited the night before to see the impressive set’s details being finished into the wee hours … perfecting the painted hopscotch on the front bow, the “watch your step” signage nailed into place…. there was no detail left out. We checked. Just kidding! But someone had to make sure that smoke would puff!
To set the scene, imagine you’re on a cruise ship in the 1940s, but with cellphones and soft pink parkas. Tommy loves a nautical theme ( who doesn’t btw?!) and this season he really took us on a magical, romantic journey, infused with a playfully charming array of feminine, breezy dresses and just enough stripes to keep you afloat. Oh! And some serious footwear – gold boots, glittered shoes and gold socks. Dreamy!
Just before the show starts, there’s this energy that you can feel building. Everyone is excited, guests chatting and laughing, getting their sailor salute shot for Instagram. The lights darken and you know its showtime, time to see all the hard work pay off and time to set sail with Tommy…..
It was absolutely a great show … the clothes here and there some nice pieces..although i loved his previous collection ..this one left me with wander who really wants to dress like that…….

How beautiful! I have to admit that I always thought of Tommy Hilfiger as just too “preppy.” These clothes still could be called that but they’re also just lovely in what I think is a new way. Love the pictures too.

Nostalgie……

I really love the 1940’s cut of dresses shown here. Somehow I always associate this cut with French women. I remember a few years ago Botega Venetta had floral 1940’s style dresses, I still think of that collection as “the one that got away”and I’d love to get my hands on it. I

Magnifique décor, ça change un peu, bravo ;)
Beautiful collection, some pieces, like the pants with golden details, are gorgeous but he took a lot of inspiration from Marc Jacobs and Gucci.
c’est magic j’adore cette collection………
