Travel Diary / Bangkok & Phi Phi Islands

This past May, I spent a week in Bangkok and Phi Phi Islands. Having never been to Thailand, I wanted to make sure to experience the city culture as well as the islands during my short stay!
After a 20 hour travel day, we arrived in Bangkok. It was humid and bustling with locals and tourists alike. Arriving at Hotel Lebua at State Tower was well worth the long day. The hotel, known for its incredible views and hospitality, did not disappoint.
I was traveling with my mom on this trip and we didn’t have a solid itinerary locked in place. Instead, we decided to go with the flow and find things along the way that we wanted to explore.
Aside from the amazing food, temples, and markets Bangkok had to offer, I found the people to be the most inspiring.
As a professional stylist, I’m always searching for inspiration while traveling. The effortless ways the people in Thailand carried themselves, mixed prints, accessorized and wore functional pieces to protect themselves from the extreme weather conditions were all things I won’t forget.
After four days in Bangkok, having barely scratched the surface of all the city had to offer, we made our way to Phi Phi Island. We took a flight, bus, and ferry to make it to the island. The trek was worth it– Phi Phi truly looks like a postcard.
Phi Phi is also home to hundreds of island cats, which I was excited about–I made it my mission to befriend them all and share my breakfast with them each morning.
One day, we took a boat tour to explore the other islands, snorkel, and swim. This is a must when visiting Phi Phi. Because of the island geography, boats are a huge part of the local culture. Locals take such pride in caring for their boats.
I was so sad to see the trip come to an end. Thailand is a spiritual and special place, and I can’t wait to visit again soon!

In fact, Thailand is also a great place for surfing or Windsurfing. All you need is to get good skills and rent a Board. Don’t forget to also use mopeds for quick trips around the Islands
