The Year In Hashtags

Yes, really. It’s a thing.
Twitter recently released their most popular hashtags of the year. It’s actually amazing how easily we can be reminded of so many major events and movements of 2015 with just a few catchy, hashtag-able (?) words.
The popularity list spanned topics such as current events, music, television, technology, politics, and culture. (So basically everything.)
Of course some were more poignant, at times painful: #blacklivesmatter, #jesuischarlie and #prayforparis were among the most used hashtags. A small triumph and silver lining, #lovewins, became a social media tidal wave when same-sex marriage was legalized in the US.
Also, #selfie, but we’re ignoring that one ;)
Others that we suspected would be in there: #TBT, #travel and #food (general, user friendly hashtags).
So, that’s it for Twitter. If Instagram revealed theirs, what do you think they would be? Sadly, #selfie might claim the top spot…
You’re probably right about #selfie likely being in at least the Top 10 Twitter hashtags. I would bet on that.
I love hashtags :) I love that they connect us all together on a certain topic and I love that they can be used comedically too i.e. sentences as hashtags haha.

Ah les hashtags… c’est presque une activité à part entière de bien les choisir, d’en mettre un peu mais pas trop… perso j’en suis à l’overdose!
