Walking into Rebecca Atwood’s new Flagship store in Soho feels like walking into my dream interior paradise. Rebecca loves print and color. So do I. And, she loves mixing prints and colors in fun and unique ways. So do I.
Rebecca grew up in Cape Cod and studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. The influence of both the ocean and New England life come through in her color palettes, imbuing a lightness within her line. And her deep love and appreciation for painting shines throughout her entire aesthetic. These experiences now mix together with the influences of her current home in Brooklyn, where she lives with her family.
As soon as I moved into my apartment, I painted the walls purple, my couch is olive velvet, my comforter is a quilted mix of pastel oranges, blues, and greens, and my area rug is a floral mix of pinks, yellows, and blues. And the frustrating thing is that a lot of people in the interiors world don’t take this style of seemingly hodge-podge, whimsical design seriously, writing it off as “feminine” (ugh!) or “not elevated.” But, what I love so much much about Rebecca’s taste and philosophy is that she truly embraces this femininity and runs with this intentionally light-hearted ethos. Throwing in a polka dot here, a marbled print there, an embroidery…she stays true to herself and the result is absolutely perfect. I want it all!!
Thank you for sharing! I’m definitely going to have to check this one out, the store seems beautiful!!
