Ornamental

There’s a big difference between ornamental and crazy bling.
I love the dash of whimsy and the ease with which these pretty hair ornaments were worn for the Rodarte show. They’re delicate enough but not overly precious, and a little antiquated but not flashy.
The hair was pretty effortlessly styled by Odile Gilbert for Kérastase, starting with slightly damp hair and then textured with powder spray before loosely blowdrying with a combine of the fingers. It creates a really dreamy, effortless look I think. Simple enough to do at home, but the hair ornaments make this feel like a real look… It’s kind of a great trick if you’re feeling completely bored of the usual long hair (remember my crazy haircut ideas?!), and you just need a revamp…
Are you one for a hair accessory? Or too much?
Hair by Kérastase.
Yes, beautifully said, the difference between exquisite and too “bling bling”.

in this case, i would find her more beautiful without the metal :)

I feel like only certain people can pull this off

I have to admit that I really love hair bling but just a touch. I’m not quite brave enough to wear it though.

No. Pretty in a show where a stylist makes the decision. But too “I just love myself” for real life.
It’s whimsy. Which means if you have the personality to carry it off, people will love it and enjoy it. If you’re self conscious – at all – about it, put it back in the drawer and move away slowly.
I do have some hair ornaments that I enjoy. My clothes are in reasonably classic taste (well, a taste probably rooted in 1940 more than anything, but anyway) and the occasional hair ornament gives rise to “Oh, that’s so cute!” and a smile from others that I hope means their day is brightened a bit.
