Where are you from / where do you live now?
I’m from a tiny town called Wheatfield, Indiana. (Either I don’t enunciate well or I come off as more interesting than I am, because people often think I say I’m from “India!”) I’ve lived in Brooklyn for the last 8.5 years and am thinking of moving to Manhattan after all this time.
What do you do for work?
I work as a lawyer, and specifically do private clients work (wills, trusts, estate planning, matrimonial work, etc.). With the new changes to the tax law, it’s an exciting time to be in this field!
What do you when you’re not working?
Hunting for vintage at thrift stores across the city while remembering that I should be getting rid of clothes….
Ideal Saturday?
Wake at 8am; drink lots of coffee; put on an outfit that excites me; walk around and visit thrift stores; take pictures; have short but memorable interactions with a few strangers; perch somewhere to drink more coffee and watch people; meet my companion for dinner, a movie and a walk. (Aspirational addition to an ideal Saturday: go for a run – which would require starting to run again.)
Favorite meal?
Udon or ramen with poached eggs, vegetables, kimchi and cheese. I have been making some version of this myself (sometimes nightly) since I was a kid.
If you could take an adventure right now, what would it be?
Hmm… break into the archives of the MET Costume Institute at nightfall and play dress up for a few hours? Actually, I’d be thrilled to pieces to be lay on the beach somewhere in the world and read for a few days.
Last words would be…
“Bury me in the cornflower yellow Mary McFadden with the freshwater pearl embellishments.”
I’m from northern Indiana, too (living in New Orleans)…welcome! I just got the excited “India!?” The other day. I just want to gently take people by the hand and say, “let’s just calm down now, and get ready to be simultaneously charmed and underwhelmed.” Much love.
haha – I could not put it better myself :)
