Leave It To Marc

Marc Jacobs is the show that marks the end of NYFW each season, and it’s something we (and maybe you?!) look forward to every season.
And that’s not just because we no longer have to worry about the long hours and running around, or the fashion injuries incurred… It’s the nice little (ok, big!) surprise – you never know what to expect.
Yesterday, when I went backstage before the show, I got a glimpse – a peek – of the red carpet. But I thought the final set up was just so clever! To make it a red carpet that the models walked up, and then entered the Ziegfeld Theatre – a nod to the increasingly blurred lines between fashion and celebrity. And yes, it was mayhem… But what Marc Jacobs show hasn’t had a little craziness to it?!
Did you watch it? What did you think of it? And the collection? I loved the floaty 40s style dresses and the perfectly tailored high waist pants! Already on my wish list…
The melted, smeared makeup made the models give off a ravaged Americana look–the set really reminded me of Cindy Sherman’s work!
I loved the high waist pants too! The loose fit is not only comfortable, but looks elegant too!
Marc is what fashion needs and who young designers should look up to

I heard his show was just the best way to end NYFW

As a show it was great fun but as wearable clothing I didn’t like this at all. Too fussy and too many bits hanging off. I like to fuss as I am dressing but then forget what I am wearing once I am out. This stuff would never let you forget. I prefer the simplicity of lines like The Row and look forward to their entry.
I’m a huge fan! I love the colours and patterns and textures.
