Ghesquière at Vuitton
11 years ago by
There was a lot of suspense surrounding Marc Jacob’s last show for Louis Vuitton this season…who would take his place?
Many of the rumors hinted that it would be Nicolas Ghesquière and today we got the big confirmation that he would take over as designer at Louis Vuitton.
Marc left some pretty big shoes to fill after 16 years there, but we think Nicolas is going to be just fine. What about you? Are you excited to see his first collection for Vuitton?

Very excited for this news and to see what direction Ghesquiere takes Louis Vuitton, but can we just flash back to the last collection Marc Jacobs showed a month ago?? What a departure from his most recent collections for the House of Vuitton… always provocative, always timeless…

Noo Ghesquiere is so elegant for that! Vuitton is too commercial for him..He belongs to BALENCIAGA..he has to go back there..

I think that from the perspective of Vuitton it was a great choice, but from Ghesquiere’s (at least in my hpov) it’s a little of a miss. Nicholas has the ability and creativity to create something wonderfully new, as well as enough name recognition to give him a leg up that many new brands/designers don’t have. He could have done something similar to what Tom Ford has done after leaving Gucci.
I understand that things are hard for a new brand (even one coming from a well known designer) and that if he starts his own company he will not have the power and know-how at his disposal that he will have at Vuitton. But, it would be such a wonderful breath of fresh air to have a new line/ new vision from someone like him, not just another exercise in reviving a heritage brand and the continuation of a giant money making machine.
Fuck yeah.
that was my first reaction when i read it this morning.
He’s got pretty big shoes to fill.
Yes. Because there better had been an epic reason for him to leave Balenciaga.
Perfect day, perfect news. I like LV

I’m really looking forward to see his first collection for LV.

I think he’s the best choice! I am looking forward to seeing his first collection for Louis Vuitton!
I have a bit of a lump in my throat over Marc’s moving on. I have always loved his way with the Vuitton brand and have just been so captivated by the moodiness and drama of hos shows. However, I do look forward to seeing what Guesquiere will do. He is dramatically wonderfull after all.
I’m so, so(,so) happy, I just love Nicolas, so I can’t wait to see what he will do for the maison.
I am excited, it will be nice to see what he creates! : )
