Denim Display
8 years ago by
Denim lovers! Last week, your prayers were answered with the opening of “Denim: Fashion’s Frontier,” an exhibition at the FIT museum here in New York.
We don’t want to give away any real spoilers, but here’s the crux of it.
The exhibition puts denim into perspective, establishing an array of interesting denim facts and speaks a lot about how jeans are the great equalizer of fashion. It’s true; they are the item that we all wear (Coco Chanel excepted), no matter your age, culture, or size of your wallet.
It’s all chronologically displayed, with denim pieces harking back to the 1910s until today – making it all the more obvious that jeans remain timeless. Ok, so tell us something we didn’t already know! Still, an interesting look at a specific piece over the years and the influence it’s had on the industry.
What’s easier than a pair of jeans, after all?
Denim: Fashion’s Frontier is open until May 7, 2016 at the Museum at FIT – admission is free!

Une expo qui m’aurait vraiment intéressée!! Dommage, NY est un peu loin ^^

That’s one thing I’m gonna miss going to! So sad…
I’m a true denim-lover. Couldn’t live without jeans, I guess.

FIT is one of my favourite museums in NY – it’s a hidden gem among the NY museum work that’s so overlooked, but always puts on the most amazingly, well-curated and detailed exhibitions. Hard to believe it’s free! Can’t wait to see this one. I loved the Lauren Bacall exhibition too.
