Beni Rugs

I’m a rug girl. I know that sounds absurd to say. But, anytime I’ve moved into a new place, the rug is my first concern. It anchors a space, making it feel automatically more complete. I spent weeks searching for the perfect rug for my current apartment. And it’s good. So good, in fact, that when my cousin was looking to invest in a new rug, she tasked me with finding it for her.
This is all to say that when I recommend a rug brand to you, you know you can trust me.
And that brand is Beni.
Beni rugs feature gorgeously simple designs and lusciously thick wools. And the coolest part is that you can completely customize them! Because each rug is both handmade and custom-made, you’re able to choose your pattern and then pick your own colorways from their rich selections.
Beyond all of this already making Beni rugs the coolest, the process for how they’re made and the mission of the company is truly remarkable. Each rug is individually handmade in the Atlas Mountains of northern Africa. The wool is gathered by shepherds (a single rug can use between 50-100 coats of wool!), dyed using all-natural pigments, and then strung onto looms. The looms are tended to by women in the village. One woman weaves each rug from start-to-finish, a process that takes over a month long!
The whole thing is incredible and the finished product is even more impressive. Garance loves Beni rugs so much, she is going to have three in her new home! Get excited to see them once the remodel is finished. But, in the meantime, we just had to share this brand with you!

Beni ourain rugs are great, super soft and neutral. And it looks good in that featured photo. Yet, I don’t think they go anywhere and there’s something worrying about seeing the same type of rug featured everywhere!
I was just poring over rugs yesterday. How long have you had your Beni rug? Is it holding up well?
