Back to Basics

“Skin first. Makeup second. Smile always.”
After years of testing and talking about beauty on Into the Gloss, our friend Emily Weiss just launched a beauty line called Glossier and we think it’s pretty cool!
There are four essential skincare and makeup hybrids: a facial mist, priming moisturizer, skin tint and the product with the coolest name: balm dotcom!
Welcome to the world of Glossier.
Sage et sain concept! :)
Stunning colour combo!

I’m allso back to basics: remove make-up with micellar water (Bioderma) and choose the simplest skincare line (www.dclskincare.com with a long experience, I use the skin brightening complex, the vitamin c serum and once a week the clay mask and sometimes a peeling) SMILE :)

Such truth! Getting older, it is wonderful to spend as little time as possible getting “made up”. The past three months, I’ve relinquished foundation, eyeliner, eye-colour, blusher, any eyebrow assistance, and focussed more on what I eat and drink and do during the day, moisturiser, daily one-minute facial self-massages, setting time aside for regular exercise and gardening and spending time with the family at home, so we only eat out once every four to six weeks (not a conscious thing – it’s just happened that way, because I cook more at home now).
The changed routine has made a huge difference to my happiness and my skin!
Apart from feeling so much calmer, clearer, and more joy, I’ve discovered the truth of Glossier’s philosophy – makeup is such a far, far, secondary element to happiness and smiling, and takes so little time to complete each day, with minimal products when you feel good.
Now, applying just one small bead of Nars Orgasm Illuminator after thoroughly moisturising my face, followed by a dab (smeared across the rest of the lip for a stain of colour) or swipe (for intense colour) of long-lasting lipstick in a strong (red, burgundy or shocking pink) shade in the morning, and just one tiny drop of the most divine, all-natural, alcohol-free performed oil (from Eternal Scents by Rafael and Sharon Rodriguez – they are alchemists whose methods come from their distinguished lineage as perfumers to the pharaohs of yore and celebrities and honoured figures of the modern age, and match you to a scent or scents that’s perfect for who you are, or who you wish to be) takes just one minute to get me out of the door… or to breeze through the latest Doré post.
PS – Please accept my apologies for my diversion into fragrance on this natural-care, inner-happiness skin post. It just felt timely to share my latest non-toxic discovery with everyone here, who also seeks non-toxic alternatives to enhance their natural beauty. And, just to clarify – my working position and financial interest in Eternal Scents is the same as for Glossier, which is, none at all – only that both are such amazing lines and excite me to no end.
You write so beautifully! I want to be your friend, haha.
love it

I haven’t tried Glossier nor I will. I have my favorite moisturizer and lip balm, I don’t believe in rose sprays, and I already have my good tinted moisturizer. However, most importantly, your lifestyle is more important than the products you put on your face. XO
