They say April showers bring May flowers… I really hope it’s true.
It’s full blown rain boot season here in NYC (there is rain on the forecast every day this week– it’s painful after being teased with sandal weather just a few weeks ago), which means that we have a serious line of up them next to the door here at the Studio. Brie wears a cool, short white pair she got at Pearl River, Garance has that short black pair from Loeffler Randall, Emily has a classic Hunter and I rotate between a tall croc embossed pair and the same Loeffler pair as Garance. I like to think of myself as a little bit of a “rain boot pro” after four rainy springs commuting in them. So here, my rain boot wearing tips!
– Always bring an extra pair of shoes along during the day. No matter how discreet or chic your rain boot might be, the day you plan to wear them all day long is the day you’ll meet Beyoncé.
– Go for simple. If you insist on wearing them all day, go with something simple. Don’t get carried away with prints or embellishments. The simpler, the chicer when it comes to rain boots.
– Wear socks. I made this rookie mistake a few weeks in to my first job in New York. I wore my rain boots without socks and they got stuck on my feet. My boss had to help me pull them off. In the moment, I was totally mortified. Wear socks, avoid embarrassment.
– Don’t be afraid of a little wear and tear. They are boots made for being outside, after all! At the same time, that giant clump of mud stuck on the back from the last time you were at Glastonbury? It’s okay to wipe that off.

Il y n’y a que les new yorkaises pour porter des bottes en caoutchouc! Franchement à Paris la tendance n’a jamais pris. No way! Par contre si on bousille nos chaussures, en contre partie on en profite pour se faire un décoiffé travaillé grâce à la pluie + vent ;)
C’est ce que je me disais, j’en ai jamais vu à Paris.
Je vis en Suisse, et vu les météo qu’on se paye, c’est vraiment la bouée de sauvetage.
Mais le deal, c’est bottes hunter grises + legigns et chemis longue pour aérer l’allure.
Jamais la totale pantalon / bottes / imper / gros pull.
Parisienne et j’ai investi il y a 4ans des les bottines Melissa x Vivienne Westwood.
Les miennes sont pailletées grises clair avec les 3 faux boutons sur le côté.
Elles ont révolutionné mes journées pluvieuses parisiennes et je trouve qu’on les voit pas mal les jours de pluie aux pieds des parisiennes justement (d’autant plus que les copies pullulent)

Les bottes c’est mon quotidien : pour travailler dans la boue tous les jours avec des chevaux, je ne vais pas mettre les horribles “choses” griffées Céline sur la précédente photo, ni des Louboutins à talon de 12 ;)
Je bosse avec des Aigle. D’ailleurs j’adore leur campagne de pub “pour la réintroduction de l’homme dans la nature”

Mais les chevaux s’en foutent des paillettes, des nus-pieds aussi d’ailleurs, ce qui les intéresse c’est que tu sois compétent, et rassurant.
I just got a job offer in San Fran! One of my first thoughts was “Time to buy rain boots!” I’m debating if I should go with Hunters or find something more unique. I’ll stick to the chic + simple tip. Any brand recommendations other than the three above?
Hey Erin, you may want to check this brand out ilse Jacobsen. They are a Danish company. Have the black boots with red sole. Simple in design as suggested above but with a red sole for style :-). their raincoats are amazing too. Great for Scottish weather! L

Mine are Chantebelles from Aigle, which started out as a wellie maker in the early 1850s and still crafts each boot by hand from caoutchouc. The boots are sturdy, slim, fairly flattering, and don’t feel too heavy. Highly recommended, Erin.
I just bought a pair of Japanese foldable rain boots from Kaufmann-Mercantile and I could not be more excited. They seem super sturdy and comfortable, but they fold down small, and as someone who travels a lot for work, that is important.

Et aujourd’hui, on est gâtée car elles sont plus belles les unes que les autres
J’en ai des roses, des argent, des léopard, des bleus avec des papillons, des jaunes , et des rock avec clous et strass !

En France, la marque assez répandue pour les bottes en caoutchouc c’est aigle. Il y a parfois des modèles vraiment sympa, après c’est peut-être moins sobre que celles que vous portez à NY :)

London is rainy enough, but I actually come from Wales and am forever making the mistake of trying to wear nice shoes instead of practical. Those white ones are the perfect middle ground, though!

L’an dernier, pendant les soldes, je me suis offert une paire de “Aigle” bleues à peu près marine mais un peu roi aussi, avec la semelle et la finition du haut rouges. Quand l’un de mes fils les m’a vue avec, il m’a dit : “c’est curieux, Maman, que tu te sois acheté des bottes de super-héros ! ?”. Il avait raison, sans m’en rendre compte, j’avaisacheté les bottes de Superman.
Aucun effet particulier sur mes pouvoirs, je dois préciser.
Buy your boots a size up, and wear thick socks with them in the winter for waterproof snow and slush boots!

J’ai les Hunter mais j’ai les bottes longues. Je crois que je vais acheter les plus courtes… :( Les courtes selon moi seront plus pratiquent et moins lourdes.
