New Year’s Night
8 years ago by
When we thought about New Year’s Eve and what to really wear, we wanted to show you a super chic couple!
And who better than Jane, the Fashion News Director of Glamour US, and her husband Giancarlo. Since it’s that time of year (the end! we made it!) when advice on what to wear for evening is imperative, we asked Jane to help. Luck be a lady, and that lady is Jane, to guide you into the new year with a little bit of elegance…
What are you doing for your New Year’s celebration? Do you have an outfit planned, or will you stay in and watch the ball drop on TV?
Choose one highlight piece and keep the rest of the outfit relatively simple. So if you’re wearing a little black dress, try a statement shoe. But don’t throw all of your craziest pieces on together. Again, less is more. Try to avoid having too many voices screaming for attention.
If you’re going to a dinner party, decorate from the waist up because you’ll be sitting most of the evening and that’s all anyone will see. Peter Copping, the Creative Director at Oscar de la Renta, once told me that and I thought it was such a smart point.
Jane wears: Dress, Dolce & Gabbana; Skirt, Dolce & Gabbana; Coat, Altuzarra; Shoes, Aquazzura; Bag, Delvaux; Earring, Ferragamo / Giancarlo wears: Suit, Paul Stuart; Shirt, custom-made; Jacket, Prada; Shoes, Church’s; Bow Tie: Hermès.

Beautiful shoes!
I plan to be in the country on New Year’s Eve and I guess I’ll be more comfy than festive. :)
But I do have my golden top with me, so who knows. :)

They are both very young and beautiful….as for the mix of clothes my believe is as you said less is more i would a
have kept the little dress with the shoes but not with the skirts that makes all very heavy and not so young…
the length of the coat add another layer …and it’s not the right length nor the right fabric for an evening look…
there is no fun or new in all this….

love this NYE look — it’s me and my boyfriends 2 year anniversary and I have no idea what to wear!

Beautiful pictures! I love the black lace of her dress in combination with her red heels – it’s so dramatic and creates the perfect NYE look.

I love the point about decorating from the waist up for dinner parties. So true.

suis d’accord !
superbes chaussures rouges
I wasn’t sure at first, however, after looking at them a couple of times, I like the red shoes. They are festive and certainly do “pop”. I think though, that a bit simpler dress — perhaps in a simplified flappers style — would complement the shoes better and enhance the “fun” feeling they have.
In any event, Jane and Giancarlo make a very striking pair.
The shoes are to die for ! This couple is very elegant as well.

They look wonderful! Great couple!
Unfortunately you rarely see ppl dressing up like that, especially guys!! It seems there are very few occasions that merit so much formality in most people’s lives.
Thanks for the eye candy, I just love seeing a man in a great fitted suit????
I love all the tips, the last one is my favorite! I never thought about it but it’s so true, if you’re going to a dinner party, your statement piece should be your top since this is what everyone would see.
