Less is More

Minimalism. What could that even possibly mean in the realm of fashion these days? A mere attempt to place an aesthetic and term that was hugely popular with American artists in the 1950s on any attire that is white and sparse? No. Minimalism is much more than that. To the designers that fall into the often over used category, their concentration is in the form and fabrications, while maintaining a discreet sense of beauty in the designs.
Deceivingly simple, few designers hold up to the standards of a truly fearless minimalist. With that in mind, and just before we become overwhelmed with the alluring possibilities of all the fall fashions, it felt like a nice moment to take a step back.
The Row, a brand whose aesthetic reflects all the notions of the aforementioned, is both timeless and elegant, strict but relaxed, and the first place one should go for all ready-to-wear in the category.
The white croissant bag from Céline is a sort of realization similar to that of a Mark Rothko painting. A simple white relief of a semi-circle, in lambskin, accented only by an even simpler delicate chain.
There are many brands today who have distinguished themselves as a go-to minimal sandal, but NewbarK, well…they started the trend. Also worth mentioning, ATP, refined in a lived-in sort of way.
Less may be more, but it’s also possible we’ve come to a point where knowing as much about a movement and trend is just as important as participating. Are you a minimal mammal?
I MUST know the color and brand of the beautiful blue nail polish!!! It’s great with the saddle tan sandals and bronzed feet. DO TELL!
Hi Margaret! The nail polish is JINsoon! Here is the link – https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/721106/JINsoon/nail-polish-aero. xx Elle
Thank you, Elle! I’m going to go buy that polish as soon as I recover from the fact that you actually responded to my request LOL. You guys rokk!
Exquisite. The fringe on the neckline? Amazing.
Love the minimal look and collection from The Row for Fall 2016!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Possibly this minimalism trend is a result of a few things culminating over the last decade…namely, 1) the iPhone’s omnipresence in everyone’s life, even if you don’t use one, and 2) a desire to surround ourselves with tidiness in an era of uncertainty. I’m sure there are other things tech related or not, but I think those are the two biggest influences.
Oh, hell yes. This way, one can always look classy, chic & elegant…and what’s more–it’s very easy and doesn’t require a lot of time. Minimalism all the way!!
Loved the nail colour with the leather sandals in the last photo!

Yes I am a big fan of minimalism. There is something to be said for the understated elegance. But on the other hand there is something equally alluring about a decadent piece too.

I am absolutely a minimalist dresser at heart. Focusing on the cut rather than the color or pattern. And its so easy to spice it up if you don’t want to go all minimal, throw on a colorful necklace or some bright sandals and the contrast is amazing! We seem to be in sync, I just posted an article on essentialism on my newly launched design and travel blog. How NOT to overpack. I’d love it if you swung by! http://www.dailydalili.com/essentialism/
Great work as always, keeps me inspired!
All my best

J’avoue on me le dit presque jamais.
