The California Coastline
5 years ago by
Few drives are as iconic as the drive up the coast of California on the Pacific Coast Highway. You weave up the coast with the Pacific Ocean always close enough to not only see but smell, while the landscape laid out before your eyes changes every hour. From the cliffs of Malibu to the flat beaches of Santa Barbara, to the orchards of Ojai and moody Big Sur — before you know it … you’ve fallen in love with the California coast.
We picked up one of our favorite Californian’s, Monroe Alvarez, from her home in Venice Beach, loaded into a Jeep and headed north. What should one wear on this road trip? To us, nothing makes more sense than Vince, a clothing company founded on the premise of “California ease.” From their Summer/Pre-Fall collection, we pulled sumptuous silks, delicate knits, and a few laid-back, California-cool-girl pieces that perfectly complimented our coastal drive…
These photos and quotes absolutely resonate with me. I love the coastline pictures, the effortless summer outfits, but most especially the model’s hair – what a beaut!
Beautiful photos and if that’s actual, natural, gray in your gorgeous model’s hair (not an artfully placed streak) then I’m even happier!
It IS her real silver! Isn’t it gorgeous? <3
..love how natural and authentic all of these photographs feel, right down to the greys in the model’s hair…and she is a beauty!
GRLSWIRL in da House !!!
As in the bowls in venice and around the world…you Absolutely Killed It, Monroe !!! You look (and you are ) *Beautiful in every Photo !!!

Haha Jorge, you’re too sweet! <3
Tres beau reportage (bravo Bogdana pour les photos !) qui me rend nostalgique de la Californie. Nous avons vecu 5 ans a San Diego et avons parcouru la cote plusieurs fois avec toujours, un emerveillement different.
Sevan, thank you so much! It’s always a group effort <3
Pure Art!!! Bravoooooo…..
Magnifique article qui m’a permis de découvrir Eve Babitz. Merci pour l’ambiance so californienne : épaisse et éthérée, vague et transparente de lumière.
What a beautiful editorial. Oh and it resonates so much with me right now. We spent a day in Big Sur in early May and I am still in the process of editing all the pictures and writing down all the memories.
