Krista is our summer intern – and she shows up at the studio with a different makeup style everyday.
Yesterday I thought her make up flattered her more than ever. She had done a cat eye. I immediately wanted to take a picture.

It’s funny, we can have all the fun we want with makeup, but there is always one style that suits you much better than all the others, don’t you think? Have you found your look?

  • So subtle and sexy…where does she get her hair cut and what products does she use? love the shape and wave!

  • Hi Maya!
I get my haircut at Rudy’s Barbershop in the Ace Hotel NY with anyone who’s available when I pop in. And as far as products go, I wash my hair with Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo (Emily was the one who told me about it!) and Davines Love Lovely Curl Enhancing Conditioner. My hair is naturally ridiculously straight, but the only way I’ve been able to get it to do something is by sleeping on it wet, which isn’t the best for my hair, but it does the trick.

p.s. you guys are too kind!

  • I find it impossible to apply eyeliner neatly on my upper lid but the look I think suits me most is a sweep of natural beige eyeshadow with a black eye pencil on my lower lid then I apply another eye pencil to the same area which is black/dark grey and has a slight shimmer to it and smudge it a little to create a more soft effect.

  • I also do the cat eye! Makes my eyes look awake. Black eyeliner all the way!

  • She is so lucky, to work with you!
Oh Garance, you spoke so beautifully in your blog about Ajaccio, so when I went there to visit my family, I was thinkin about your photography. Thank you!

  • I agree, no matter what type of look I try with make up (whenever I attempt to wear it), I think one style always suits me best. Cat eye is so easy to do with liquid liner.

    she’s stunning :-)

  • So nice, subtle and flattering !

  • I feel like a good cat eye can look great on anyone. I do the cat eye a lot and solid color across my lid.

  • Being a person with pale skin and very dark hair and features, everyone says that a neutral shadow, with a dark eyeliner and red lips works best on me. But I so want to try smoky eyes, or vibrant, colorful eye shadows with nude ore cold-pink lips. The thing is that I end up looking washed out and then just wash my face and go our bare-skin :)

  • Have you seen Lisa Eldridge’s videos on youtube? She has two makeup looks for pale skin, one dramatic and one natural. I suggest you check it out. I think pale girls with dark makeup look very rock n roll!

  • She looks gorgeous, look at that skin.

  • Love her style, she’s very beautiful! I alternate between red lips mascara/ eyeliner and dark grey smokey eye with lipgloss. Not so very special, haha, but I either feel like “more the eyes” or “more the lips” . xxx

  • I love how subtle her cat eye look is. It almost has a natural look with her minimal other make up. Super pretty.

  • Love this! Very subtle, natural, lovely and “Bobbi Brown”……merci!

  • Very pretty! It’s not only that a cat eye is versatile, but that there are so many different versions of it – so many adjustments 1 mm here or there that can make a distinctly new shape!

Mine tend to be kind of dramatic – something about the shape of my eye makes it impossible to see small flicks, so I really have to go for it if I want to create the slanted effect. Wearing one here, for example – with my eye closed in the mirror it looked massive..but when I opened my eye the flick was gone. Must be more bold!

As for my basic look…bronzer/highlighter, maybe a touch of blush, maybe mascara, lipstain. Fresh and easy.

  • I loved it!

  • i am all about the cat eye – all day, every day!
    xx

    http://www.laurablogmode.com

Love cat eyes!! But I feel makes my eyes look smaller :(

Her skin is also sooo beautifull

  • Great look ! hair, make up..all…super cute

I posted an easy tutorial for the fabulous feline flick by Charlotte Tilbury
    here http://www.fashionsphinx.com/the-feline-flick-tutorial/
in my opinion the easiest and best feline eye around…all my friends tried it and the results were spectacular

  • I love this look but I just can’t get it right on my eyes, so annoying! xx

  • This looks perfect on her!
I think that everyone has one particular makeup style that suits them the best but there’s no reason not to try them all until you find the perfect look right..?

    :)

  • SO CUTE ! Very nice. Love cat eyes.

  • princessglee August, 13 2013, 3:37 / Reply

Yes I’ve found my make up style. Eyelid must be lined in black, top lashes must have mascara and under eye may be partially lined or not at all. If not lined at all, then mascara. Cheeks with subtle color. Lips are where I have a little fun…matte, glossy, reds, pinks, browns, burgs but never black. Black lipstick would just be too weird for me–too deathlike and browns are considered my neutrals. Still I play with colored eye shadows and liners but I never wear it.

  • The older I get, the more minimalistic and natural my make up look is. But I love to make a cat eye also, every now and then. http://www.flaircat.com

  • Wow, she’s such a beauty!
Love her subtle cat eye, really suit her doll face
My fave makeup is just inner liner, idk if it works but i love it ;)

    http://sundaydesire.blogspot.com

  • omg and her hair- so perfect

  • Wow, this look fits her perfectly!

I am 26 and I am still looking for mine.. :S

    http://www.ireneweekly.com

  • It took me a while (and a drastic haircut) to figure out that I should focus on eyebrows. I used to think about lips and eyes (because that’s what you usually think about when it comes to make-up), but I haven’t noticed until recently that even though my hair are dark and strong I have very faint and pale eyebrows. I started using a shadow (Bobbi Brown <3) and suddenly everyone is like "wow, you look amazing". Huh, such a small thing.

    xx.

  • It depends:
In summer: generous mascara and some bronzer, maybe a sheer bright lipstick
In winter: a very very light smudged application of black khol and matte dark brown eyeshadow along the upper lashline to have a very subtle smokey effect, lots of mascara again and my clinique chubby stick in Voluptuous violet.

I also think of make-up in terms of my hair… It’s funny, but when I come to think of it, I only ever do a cat eye when I straighten my hair. When my hair is in a bun (i.e. 90% of the time, it just suits me), I focus more on my eyes and blusher, when I let the natural curls go wild, my face is usually very natural except for a bright colour on my lips.

she looks great with cat eye!

  • cat eye…red lips…can’t go wrong! happy day everyone…xoxo

    Bisettes! Cat.

  • En effet c’est ravissant !

  • I love Krista’s hair !
does that work on very straight hair too ? thick hair ?

Krista…who cut your hair and do you style it every day yourself ? or did someone do it for the pix
    it is great !
i want the same for the fall and I have the same length but not the same blunt cut and wavy thing

  • Love her makeup! and the hair!

  • It would be nice to see her with different make-up, as you said she does come in at work with a diverse make-up every day. Maybe – 5 days, 5 pictures, 5 looks!
Krista, you are super lucky to be a part of the team! Looking forward to see some of your works.

Très joli oeil de biche! ravissante Krista:-)

  • Pour moi c’est la ligne toute simple bleue électrique avec le crayon Yves Saint Laurent, impossible de rater ce make up :-)!

  • I think she is beautiful! I do the same with Surge Lutens beaute liner and once you know how to put it on, it is so easy and quick. It looks so youthful, no matter what your age is.

  • A cat eye looks best on me too, with copper shadow and either no eyeliner or just a little in the outer corners depending on how my eyes look that day. I never got compliments on my eye makeup before I started doing it that way, but now I get compliments all the time!

  • this is my makeup !!!

  • I love a sexy cat eye! Have you tried adding a line directly above in glittery gold? It looks awesome.
