Warning: This is being written in a studio full of slight hangovers from our own little team holiday soirée. It was magical. We opted for a Mexican dinner at Tortilla Flats, roasted toasted each other, ran into the Goop team who apparently also has an affinity for unlimited margaritas (hey Goop!) and finally we laughed and held each other all the way to our respective subway stops and cabs (Brie).

While our party didn’t require a full face contour, we still wanted to know, now more than ever, how women with busy holiday calendars manage to look great at every single party. We invited Deborah, Solange and Angela to the studio to share their tips and tricks and they graciously obliged. They let our makeup professional friends Sam and Julia paint their faces, all before we snapped their portraits in front of some gold decor from Party City that was arguably exactly the same as what was hanging from the ceiling at Tortilla Flats…

Do you use the holiday season as an excuse to do something new with your look?
Not just for holiday but for any party situation I usually do a red or dark lip. I feel like at every event you go to now you are taking pictures or being photographed. I look better with more of a contrast and the red lip pops in pictures. In my everyday life, I’m so busy I typically keep it neutral when it comes to my lips. I like a “no color” color, Pigalle from Nars is my go to.

If you have five minutes to spruce up from work to party, what’s your move?
Usually if my hair isn’t looking great I put it in a tight pony tail, throw on big earrings, and a red lip.

What is your beauty secret for getting through the holiday season?
Sleep! And leaving the party right when everyone starts getting really drunk because you’ll have to go to another one tomorrow!

When it comes to makeup, wardrobe, champagne – less is more or go all in?
All three less is more – except for diamonds!

Tell us about your favorite products?
A list of my current go-to products:
Mermaid Hair Shine Spray, Kat Burki Eye Cream and Balancing Elixir, Herbivore Lip Tint, Mountain Ocean Skin Trip moisturizer, Three Cosmetics, L’anza Healing Oil, Sun Potion Tocos, and a Maison Pearson Hairbrush.

Are the holidays an excuse to try something new?
Nope, I just go bigger! Fluff the hair.

What is your go-to beauty trick for getting through the holiday party season?
Honestly, an extra coat of mascara on the outer lashes and a dark lip.

How do you deal with Holiday hangovers?
Couch lounging and clutching my Brita, always. And maybe some french fries…

Any cheap drugstore beauty items that are your secret weapons?
I love the Maybeline make-up remover wipes.

When it comes to makeup, wardrobe, champagne – less is more or go all in?
All in!

Tell us about your favorite products?
Anything hydrating…Burt’s Bees Wax Balm, face lotion with spf, and coconut oil all over my body and face.

If you have five minutes to spruce up from work to party, what’s your move?
Put on a cat eye. Its a sufficient and easy way to give yourself a more dramatic look when you’re going from day to night. Plus It’s the only makeup look I have really mastered and I’ve been doing it since high school.

What is your go to beauty trick for getting through the holiday season?
No makeup! I show up to a lot of events with no makeup. I love that Alicia Keys has really legitimized it!

How do you deal with Holiday hangovers?
Ramen. It’s cold outside and the noodles are just salty, fatty, warm…everything you need to cure a hangover.

Tell us about your favorite products and makeup you’ve been using?
I really love Nars nail polish. I use to buy drugstore nail polish but Nars has such beautiful colors and it lasts so much longer.
