Beauty Minute with Kimberley Ho

3 years ago by

We’re excited to bring you this sweet sweet beauty minute from Kimberley Ho, founder of Evereden, a lux 100% nontoxic skincare line for babies, mommies, and mommies-to-be. Enjoy!

What is your morning beauty routine?

I’m quite an early riser, which means I have time to really spend on making my morning routine meaningful. When it comes to the beauty aspect of that, I start with a simple cleanse, treat, and moisturize routine, using prototype versions of a new Foaming Face Wash from Evereden, as well as our Nourishing Baby Face Cream. Then for makeup, I keep it quite simple day to day, especially since I’m not really going anywhere! My staples though are a great tinted moisturizer, blush, and a natural lipstick. To me, the colors help to liven me up on a Zoom call.

For my body, after my morning shower, when my skin is still a bit damp, I love to use our Soothing Baby Massage Oil in Cotton Dew. It’s a blend of only 5 organic superfood oils and the 100% natural scent leaves a very fresh smell – I never really wear perfume anymore!

What products do you use throughout the day?

I love to use our Baby Lip Balm to keep my lips hydrated throughout the day. The chubby packaging makes it easy to spot in my makeup bag, and the ultra-creamy formula of botanical oils helps to keep my lips nourished, especially during these weather changes.

What is your evening beauty routine?

To note the beginning of my evening, I love to start by washing my face. Afterwards, if I feel like my skin needs a bit of a deeper clean, I’ll pop on Origins’ Charcoal Mask. Then, I’ll follow with our Nourishing Baby Face Cream to replenish my skin – the high concentration of superfood oils, such as Sunflower Seed Oil and Jojoba Oil effectively nourish the skin without it ever feeling greasy. And lastly, I’ll finish with a few drops of our Golden Belly Serum, a multi-reparative treatment oil to help with women’s stretch marks and scars that I find is amazing as an anti-ageing and firming face serum, to lock in the moisture on my face and to give me such a glow.

Once my skincare is done, it’s then time for me to unwind and catch up on bookmarked reads or missed messages, but it’s always a relatively early snooze time for me! Sleep is truly one of the best beauty secrets there is.

What inspired you to create Evereden?

When I was in finance, I invested primarily in consumer companies and became intimately familiar with the behind-the-scenes operations of many beauty and skincare brands. I saw firsthand various brands’ manufacturing processes, their formulas, their research and development and quickly realized that, by and large, many family skincare brands were still using the same questionable ingredients, working with the same large contract manufacturers who haven’t changed their formulations in decades, and hardly innovating.

Unlike women’s skincare and beauty, which has seen vast innovation, new brands and ingredients in the past decades, family skincare is still dominated by the same few players – there has been no need for them to improve or innovate.

I also saw a lot of quality control and operational safety issues at some of these much larger brands which gave me pause and ultimately made me jaded of continuing to invest in the space without the ability to enact real change as only an investor rather than an operator in the business.

Seeing this was truly eye-opening, and I knew that there was an opportunity to truly create a safer, better brand that combined the best of science with innovations in botanical ingredients known to be good for skin, for the entire family.

When do you feel most beautiful?

Fresh in the morning, ready to start the day with a hefty to-do list knowing that anything can happen.

What did the women in your family teach you about beauty?

More than the act of doing skincare, brushing my hair, or putting on makeup, the women in my family – namely my mother and grandmother – taught me that all of those actions sum up to the ritual of remembering to take care of myself and to prioritize my well-being. This mindset was instilled in me at such an early age, and so now, beauty to me is the relationship that I have with myself and what makes me feel good.
