Chelsea Nicholson is the founder of Goodbite & co-Founder of Ceremony. Needless to say she is one busy lady and therefore nothing in her beauty routine is superfluous. Enjoy this paired down and efficacious beauty minute!

What is your morning beauty routine?

The very first thing I do in the morning is take out my night guard, rinse it off, and put it away. Then, I wash my face with a gentle oil cleanser — lately, I’ve been using Tatcha Cameilla Cleansing Oil. Next, and a new step for me, I apply the C-Firma Day Serum by Drunk Elephant and I can honestly say I’m in love with the product. Lastly and most importantly, I wear sunscreen every day (rain or shine) and just switched to Kinfield’s new Daily Dew SPF.

I have curly, fine hair which is a challenge! I wash it every other day, and blow dry and straighten it after most washes. I’ve been using The Milbon restorative blowout primer which is perfectly balanced between light weight and hydrating.

Makeup is part of my every day routine as well. Lately, I’ve been loving a light foundation combined with the YSL Touche Éclat High Cover for under eyes. Then it’s Boy Brow, mascara, and sometimes Nudestix for a bit of light blush and highlighter. Most of my skincare is clean, but a goal this year is to move my makeup products that direction too.

What products do you use throughout the day and why?

Since the pandemic I’ve been washing my hands constantly, so I love finding new soaps and lotions. A friend just gave me Margiela’s No. 2 hand soap which smells incredible, and before that I’d been using this simple olive oil bar soap from Monoprix, I stock up every time I go.

What is your evening beauty routine?

I have dry and sensitive skin, so it’s all about gently hydrating. First, I remove makeup with Pai’s Rosehip Cleansing Oil, followed by their Gentle Cream Cleanser. Next is oil (love Noto), then moisturizer, and sometimes a serum. On Sunday nights I use Drunk Elephant’s Baby Facial mask, and feel like I have completely new skin after. Last but not definitely not least, every night I put in my night guard and head to bed.

What is your definition of beauty?

Health. When someone is healthy in mind, body and spirit, it creates a glow.

When do you feel most beautiful?

I feel the most beautiful when I am taking time to care for my mind and body. This includes the foods I consume, drinking enough water, and taking care of my mental health by meditating, reading, and journaling. All of this takes time and can easily slip away, but when I consistently work to holistically care for myself, I notice a difference and feel my best.

Tell us about Goodbite and what inspired you to found it?

Grinding your teeth can cause a lot of issues, including: headaches, sore jaw, cracked teeth, and even change the shape of your face over time (few people know this last one). I have been grinding my teeth since I was little, and needed a night guard for myself but wanted something not too bulky, even comfortable. Upon diving in and asking questions, I came to learn that almost everyone I know needed one too.

The current options were going to the dentist and spending $500+ and ending up with a bulky mouth piece, or going to the drug store and getting one that’s un-customized and temporary (and still bulky). I knew there had to be a better option, so I reached out to several dentists and with extensive research and testing, we created a thinner guard that is actually comfortable, you can take your impression from home, and costs only $139.

We use products to protect the rest of our face from stressors and aging by using protective creams, etc. and caring for your teeth should be no different. For people who grind their teeth (dentists report around 80% of people do), putting in a night guard is an important part of an evening routine that should not be overlooked or skipped!
